Best Commending Poems
“… The 1986 revolution in the Philippines … brought an end to the martial law imposed by Marcos’ regime in 1972, and saw the accession to power of the first woman president, Cory Aquino.”
Freedom songs of militant optimism
Reigned with victorious patriotism
Liberty shouting spirit of volunteerism
Vanquishing oppressed activism…
Music reverberating freedom’s prevalence
Street dancing breaking Martial Law’s silence
Commending People power revolution excellence
God I thank for His bestowed historical opulence…
Such marked grand national milestone in my College days
Having first woman president along political race
After freedom-driven coup d’etat of peaceful ways
The Lord I praise for His provident grace…
Best of all is my spiritual freedom exposure
Midst university culture shock pressure
Genuine peace*, divine liberation I gained with pleasure
Through Jesus Christ the Saviour Who my eternity does assure.
*Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I ...
sit by the
window ...
cold, damp air
wrapping
tendrils 'round my
nape,
reminding me of
February ...
of her ... of farewell
chill thoughts
gather like
a knot
in the back of
my skull ...
thrumming like Thor's
mallet -
commending the
haughty
hell that dripped
from her
baby-soft
bows
like honeyed poison ...
to ruin
me.

Social conscious, the brain behind the hand,
it’s wooden spoon ready to smack the non-conforming adult /s/,child/ren.
Driven by western views of political correctness,
it dictates how we should be and what we should become.
Weaving its web within the fabric of society,
legislative acts and the cynical ideals of who?
Always ready to shout out your wrong!!!,
never commending those who are right.
Forced upon minorities in a stereotypical way
look these people need to be saved,
it’s one sided propaganda eagerly displays,
many shames of what were acceptable ways.
Power, control, suppression, aggression
this seems pretty prejudice to me,
why else would it segregate the people,
instead of helping the people to be free.
Let’s disempower the people,
then they wonder why?
These people have no control!
I don’t know why they act surprised?
Social conscious dictates social change,
social change denotes someone pays,
the ones who pay force change,
so social conscious always wins at the end of the day.
There’s two sides to every coin,
but only one to social conscious,
who is the conscious behind social conscious?
think about that……..

I was once told that I sin, because the color of my skin.
To the world we live on, not in.
Complexes our diverted souls from within.
Hear the words of God, for they are never ending.
From the righteousness of Baby Jesus,
To his descending.
To these words once spoken, “Let my people go!”
Racism is finally ending!
Commending and spreading,
For the future color kids attending.
If it wasn’t for yesterday, there would be no today.
A gifted soul lifted to heaven,
Stopping halfway.
Looking down at his family, the change, The USA.
Who believed in equality?
We celebrate his name today.
He was a great leader, a warrior of wise words.
Change the moment he had a dream,
A dream that was heard.
Across the nation.
An inspiration.
Now we stand as one.
God’s creation.

One Blackberry winter in the cliffs of Ireland
An early woodpecker passed by
And a red robin flying so high
Colored like chrysalis in an orange land
A white clown I am, peace and wind
I see, feel around
Early winter in plain view so far by the harbor
Peace, joy, contentment has a realist painter
Sun and sand minichu over the ground
The winter gift I wished this day engulfed
Sands of time of motherly wind
Turquoise TriSaratop dining out
Blueberries released three inches by wind
Flies, mockingbird and butterfly eating out
Flushed mind, not of the writer's friend I recall
Laughed at the white clown discovered by one and all
Purple sage of golden fall, magically mingled almost fall
Tattered but warm, Australia down under brushed strokes
in hibiscus flowers of the coming Fall
Pink cotton candy I missed like Sp
Not Spam of the drenching rain in flight
Smell like tricolored cat, not Rocky
Busy as ocean waves but behaved when she met the master
Cardinal beauty in the whisps of Spring
Hummingbird intrigued by a kiss of sunshine bring
On the old wooden bench I sat and dross
Number "10" I saw carved on wood so gross
Two birds suddenly appeared
Drenched like butterfly kisses on spilled coffee brewed
One Rutabaga cooked with liatis for me
Cold was I, splitting an infinitive of me
Two days later he gave me two pink birds
And I named them in Italian, "Pane e Tulipani"

Other
(2 Corinthians 10:12)
"Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding."
Whenever I hear people comparing their own sufferings to families and friends,
I see the PRIDE taking roots in their hearts.
It's part of the human egos that can never be completely erased.
You know it when it comes.
You feel it when it surges over your normal self.
It's thrilling by nature and has the tendency to lift you up.
Almost similar to the traits of blissful happiness, but less pure in its intentions.
Some may understand it very well but they can no longer feel the thrill of trivial matters. Or perhaps in their point of views,
your tiny little headache seems small to what they had been through.
Nothing can be compared to their own life and death situations.
Like all the animated characters in movies, they sing and make poetry about their survivals. Unlike a few who remain solemnly silent about their own experiences.
There were many people who wrote stories about Jesus's sufferings
but he was never one to brag about his deepest pain and experiences.
That is one TRUE soul I'll hold forever in the highest esteem.

THE REALISTIC PESSIMIST
Is it about life or death?
Is it about death or birth?
If it is about death, and not life or birth,
So be it
You either love or hate
You can choose to hate or date
If you choose to hate, and not love or date,
So be it
Is it about success or failure?
Is it about failure or progress?
If it is about failure, and not success or progress,
So be it.
Is it about winning or losing?
Is it about losing or victory?
If it is about losing, and not winning or victory,
So be it
Is it about food in excess or famine?
Is it about famine or eating?
If it is about famine, and not food in excess or eating,
So be it
Is it about commending or condemning?
Is it about condemning or extolling?
If it is about condemning, and not commending or extolling,
So be it
Is it about freedom or slavery?
Is it about slavery or liberty?
If it is about slavery, and not freedom or liberty,
so be it.

Lyric
Human imperfection is our heritance from Adam and Eve.
If any of us think we're guiltless, it's ourselves we deceive.
Human weakness is the stained affliction of all mankind.
If we think we are better than most, then truly we are blind.
Don't be so quick to judge the transgressions of others.
God intended for us to be equal, treating all as brothers.
Before pointing an accusing finger in the wrong direction,
First examine ourselves to discover our own imperfection.
Pray to God so that He may give us the faith to be strong.
Commending is always right; disapproving is always wrong.
We should always put forth the effort to be mild and meek,
and when we do, we will find rich blessings that we seek.
Pointing out the faults of men is taking negative action,
and in God's view of us, He will take no satisfaction.
Hypocrite would be the name some would call us by,
and on the Judgement Day, we will be the one to cry.
Refrain from using the harsh words meant to criticize.
Keep rein on our tongues; see others with loving eyes.
God will hold us accountable for the hurts we may cause.
Before condemning someone, be mindful of our own flaws.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Inspired by the Bible Verse found at Matthew 7:3
"Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye
but do not notice the rafter in your own eye?"

God be praised for His work in our victory
Proclaiming that salvation is verily assured by His grace
As taught by His inspired Word*, devoid of any flaw…
Let us then read it with earnestness
And learn from His wisdom of prudent enlightenment!
God be thanked for His triumph in our walk
Declaring that sanctification is only fulfilled thru His cleansing
As affirmed by His preserved Word, secured from sins…
Let us then meditate it with sincerity
And seek His forgiveness along assured peace!
God be honoured for His supplies in our needs
Testifying that satisfaction is bountifully enriched with His sufficiency
As expressed by His inerrant Word, filled with blessings…
Let us then delight in it with prayerfulness
And abide in His goodness of contentment-bliss!
God be magnified for His might in our ministry
Showing that service is acceptably done along His power
As revealed by His pure Word, free from deceit…
Let us then hear it with utmost desire to practice what’s right
And involve in His church for kingdom-advancement!
God be exalted for His favour in our gathering
Telling that sanctuary-worship is genuinely experienced in His holiness
As settled by His immutable Word, asserting “Thus saith the Lord...”
Let us then obey it with heartfelt gratitude
And share His Gospel about redeeming love!
God be lifted-up for His anchor in our upholding
Recognizing that steadfastness is formidably braced upon His strength
As emphasized by His perfect Word, preached for character-building…
Let us then apply it with yielded obedience
And trust His promises of precious value!
God be glorified for His commendation in our jubilation
Commending that success is ultimately attained around His standards
As reminded by His infallible Word, settled upon sovereign truth…
Let us then live by it with growing faith
And follow His instructions of faithful stewardship!
*2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

"Time is the thief you cannot banish."
Phyllis McGinley, Writer, 1905 - 1978
as God’s gift to treasure along life you value
my essence is functionally worthwhile
granting meaning to every moment
substance midst hours’ impact
vitality for achievements daily
significance in annual reports
quality upon inventory pursuits…
bestowed to be your growth partner
my nature has witnessed you since birth
while the Creator blesses your advancement
midst my watchful calendars, diaries, journals
goading your steps--- forwarding … ascending
commending your milestones with enthusiasm bliss
prodding your spirit to keep on…
having seen you raced with me in beating deadlines
beholding you, praying to the Lord with faith for interventions
how I love to command my clocks and watches to stop
so as to accommodate your requests for “more time, please…”
yes, my heart favours your yearnings toward “perfect time”
believing that such is God’s will, the best for your triumph
never to hurt you; yes…. never…
now, that I’m convicted of a crime, which I’m not guilty of
…accordingly as a thief you can’t banish
to your discernment I appeal regarding these truisms:
culprit am I of aging for those who deny such reality
adversary to the slothful, indolent, as well as to the sluggard
accomplice to fatalists, and “que-sera, sera” fellows
friend to “Time is gold”-driven stewards maximizing my opportunities…
here am I, time*, confronting you; what have I stolen from you
yet, how about your misuse, and negligence to enjoy or optimize me?
*Ephesians 5:15-16 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise; redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Personification
In their celestial separation of almost two decades
My parents’ “till death do us part”* vow survived various blockades
With Mom’s “sudden” flight to heaven due to cardio-respiratory arrest
Leaving Dad in anguish, enclosing her warmly, momentarily in his breast.
By God’s grace, Dad miraculously handled his widower status
Moving on life’s journey with cheer midst times of lonesome hiatus
Believing that soon, his glorious reunion with Mom is blissful forever
Sealed around eternal love’s triumph, not anymore to waver!
Now… Dad’s departure from his mortal body is marked with wondrous serenity
He’s welcomed by the Lord, commending his fidelity…
Afterward ushered to my Mom who’s waiting in eagerness’ radiance
Sweet meeting beyond romantic elegance, blest with delight’s extravagance!
Looking at each other’s countenance with “missing you” intimacy
Eyes of faith radiate their longing, sufficed by their warm embrace-efficacy
Then joined by brethren-saints, they all exalt God in Hallelujah praising
As one joyous family, freed from long distance relationship, so oppressing!
Beholding them together in the Creator’s everlasting paradise
I praise and thank the Lord for His design, perfectly wise…
Dad and Mom are together again in their endless unity ties
Exploring perfection’s beauty, reminding that godly love never dies!
*Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Long Live Brussels!
We need to fight back,
And in arduousness react,
Without restraint or hesitation,
And blame in aggression.
Islam and faith must go down,
They must subside in renown,
Islamophobia is more credible,
Because of terrorism indelible.
There’s something wrong,
With religion’s repeated song,
Which assimilates radicals,
Who are potential criminals.
It protects reactionaries,
And funds Jahidi armies,
Asking us to tolerate,
The more liberal delegate.
We must state the lines,
Of faith’s heartfelt pines,
By commending some,
And by banning the one.

Heroic Couplet
This world is so evil,
Despite the good days.
I'm fighting to get out...
...Of this mind contolling maze.
Caught up in temptations.
Tasting forbidden fruit.
The smarter ones that speak the loudest,
Are always the ones kept on mute.
They won't feed into the devils lies.
Or let society get into their heads.
But instead of taking a stand for what they believe in,
They sit back and let our streets continue to be covered in red.
The haters really want to see me fall.
But I just can't give up now.
Being a clone of another ones soul,
Is something my conscience just wouldn't allow.
I demand to be my own person.
I will live for what I know is right.
Completing my own individual purpose,
Would be what allows me to walk into my fathers light.
I understand that through my struggles,
I will rejoice and be free in the end.
But I won't be around to live within that happiness,
If I was to stop in my tracks and let them win.
No more will they witness the tears,
That I have continued to shed all these years.
Never again scared to face my fears,
Because I know my time to shine is near.
Smiling down on all the haters.
Commending all the fakes,
For making me believe that NO MORE is the only thing left that I could
take.
Now I focus on my destiny,
Because I understand what I am worth.
When you keep your head up as negativity is pulling you down,
Never again could you get hurt.
Speaking out to others similar to myself,
Each of us are precious jewels.
Living for ourselves and no one else,
For our own life we now make up the rules.
...It's up to us if we decide to break them.

Dramatic Verse
"But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men." *Ephesians 4:7-8 of the King James Bible
I was once a captive of my own humble pride
With my soul shut inside haughtiness’ prison cell
Commending personal achievements, boasting well
Yet to worthlessness’ bondage I was indeed tied.
As a captive to selfishness’ dominion-height
My heart was enslaved by worldly and carnal lust
Enjoying sweet cravings of ephemeral crust
But seeking to be freed toward celestial flight.
In my captive status, I then yielded to Christ
Receiving sure pardon, acquitting me from sin’s guilt
With His offered love and peace, that’s securely-built
Granting me liberty, spiritually sufficed.
Released from being a captive by divine grace
Since the Saviour paid for my ransom completely
Through His mercy, kindness and sacrifice fully
I have life eternal midst faith that Scriptures brace.
Now as a captive* of God, I abide in Him
Serving with gladness, while to others reaching-out
Gratefully blest as my worshipful praises shout
Glory to the Lord Who saved me from life that’s dim.
