Best Commendations Poems

At a Distance

Afar off you stand,
fearful of me
because of what ...
the color of my skin?

At a distance (you deem safe)
do you judge
the worth of me
As you live in gated comfort
of isolation

Wearing a white suit of
fruit salad honors,
pressed to the breast
are the colors you love

Valor and bravery
was imbued to you
by a metal wizard wand

Spitting fire in your hand
allowed you to stand
afar off from me

With a steely hand
you pinned unspeakable deeds
on the innocent and guilty

Commendations notwithstanding,
when did I give you
a medal of fear
to put me in a box safely?

From blue service to white promotion,
your scarlet actions
were washed away
by the firmament gutter cleaners

And many heroic hosannas
were rained upon you
from a goodly parade distance

As the familial tears
of your justice
were buried from view ...
Safely, at a lengthy emotional dug space

Afar off further you stand,
hateful of me
because of what ...
the color of vitality you withdrew
from under my brother’s skin?

And you deposited
your talisman protection
at a safe distance,
yet-to-be determined
in the witching hour

Reformation

When this Corvid crisis is over
There has to be Social Reform:
We just can’t expect things to
Return to their pre crisis norm.
All those essential workers
Daily risking their lives,
The security of their families,
Their children and wives,
To try and keep things going,
Keep society on track
Until the lockdown has ended
And we get normality back.

Many of those are working
On Minimum rates of pay
Which has got to change
Come crisis over day.
There’s talk of a medal to
Recognise all they’ve done,
Recognise their hard work
When this fight is finally won.
But, you can’t feed on medals or
commendations from the Queen.
Let’s have something lasting
With results that can be seen.

Close up the tax loopholes
Take away the benefits of evasion
From those companies that operate
From their offshore tax haven
Reform this unequal society of
Selfishness, grasping and greed
From each according their ability
To each according to their need.
When we’ve managed to enable
This necessary social reformation
Only then will we be a real, not
Just Lip serving, Christian Nation.

Premium Member The Ideal Air Force Wife

An Ode To Vera Selena (Osburn) Hinshaw

It takes a very special lady to be an ideal Air Force wife,
To face the many challenges and vicissitudes of Air Force life.

Even though it meant moving every few years to a different place,
You became a seasoned veteran as we moved from base to base.

You made a house a home whether in the states or foreign lands.
I marveled at your flexibility and left things in your capable hands.

When moving through the ranks and Lord knows at times money was tight,
But you worked marvels with hamburger meat and taters much to my delight!

You understood when I was called to duty and missed family celebrations,
But you pressed on, nurturing the girls and kept busy with various organizations.

As we advanced in rank you met social obligations with pride and grace.
You taught Sunday School and Girl Scouts leaving each base a better place!

You supported me and helped me earn each stripe I wore upon my sleeve,
Plus the various commendations and medals I was honored to receive.

Honey, thanks for standing by me - these accolades are well deserved.
The girls and I are very proud of you, since you also faithfully served!

A Season's Glow

beauty, blessing, January, magic, moon, sunset, winter

A SEASON’S GLOW ©

‘Bastille’ winter-lodes wait anticipating the reserved and affected invasions of the sun’s setting rays, to lay its' mark upon her surrounding ice-capped winter hood---
Fortifying ‘arms’ now stand saluting at attention to the expected deluges to carnival delights from the setting sun….
Applause from ‘knightly’ lances carry a shadow-display, when brought to arms;
'toe-elbowing' their stances to a light bright multiplexed review….
Eventide’s soon to reach cosmic nighttime ceilings and is brought momentarily to stands aside, to hushed warnings off snow iced platforms gaining cheery fire-light at each kissed by-pass retreat….
At devotion ‘arms’ stretch their winter façades 'drawing' close their 'painted' ‘four o’clock’ shadows; that mark out each stance---
Alas, the playhouse ‘adieus’ end with sad commendations; when staged dimmed lights snuff and flicker out to blackness.
Nighttime slants and an interval is at hand, for waning sun’s rays, to dismiss their stationed sentinels over to moonlit beamed doom---
Night plagues with harmonizing rhythms; as ice-tinkling ‘icicles’ from branches high salute the night time, sky-faerie's lite and dance upon a new stage!

My Old Bosses Funeral

MY OLD BOSSES FUNERAL
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS

Went to the funeral of my old boss
After several speakers I was at a loss
Who was this person they were eulogizing
Kind words and praise was so surprising
I knew him well for many, many years
Despised by family and also his peers
He was a tough boss that never praised
The toil of his workers, most thought him crazed
One speaker after another had bountiful praise
They must be mistaken or in a mental daze

Like I said I knew him well
Being around him was a living hell
His ex wife had nothing to say
His two daughters couldn’t make it today
His son sent a card but forgot to sign
It said” hi mom” are you having a good time?
I had an eerie feeling throughout the service
These lauding comments were making me nervous

I had to make sure I was in the right place
Walked up to the casket and stared at his face
I had to touch him to see if he’s cold
Lipstick and rouge made him look old
Underneath the makeup he was turning gray
Get him underground don’t wait another day
Sure enough the old codger was dead
But I couldn’t believe the plaudits said

He was a bitter psychotic misanthrope
He was cheap a bigot a total mope
He was intolerant abusive and never approved
To belittle and disarm was his every move
The praising went on like a marathon
It sounded as if they’re sorry he’s gone
It must be that he had more than one side
They’re talking about Dr. Jekyll I knew Mr. Hyde

BOSS’S FUNERAL (2)

Later I learned what the praise was all about
He left a fortune for his rep to dole out
Total discretion for his rep to give away
To anyone that had something real to say
Everyone here and others previously chosen
To say a few words about the recently frozen
They all praised and offered exaltations
Expecting a big payoff for their commendations

But when the will was officially opened
Not a thing awarded to those who had spoken
Instead everything was willed to his son
Cause he was best to continue his fathers run
Of all of my kin and friends it was easy to see
My son is a son of a ***** just like me
So he gets my wealth and also my genes
He’ll succeed using unscrupulous schemes
When its his time to turn from ecru to gray
He can expose the hypocrites as I did today

Hallucinatory Prayers

Fallen upon knees in ashes of pipe dreamer’s infatuation
chimera's collective stardust reigning through macrocosms,
world spins counterclockwise unrealistically bound hiatus
stained glass mirrors fracture in rhetorical opposition,
earthly beings condensed to mere commonplace residue
threadbare allegiances written on worn out constitutions,
idly spinning cogwheels from premier breath to closer exhale
angels hark intensely attempting to assuage inevitability
whilst calm winds yield to maelstroms' imitative gesticulations
forfeitures of human activity sacrificed in sins' germinal vices
banal platitudes reinforcing an elusively unoriginal existence,
dancing 'round the fire tween inquisitions' reluctant commendations
preparedness on conventional suspension of ill-advised reiterations,
awaiting surrender 'neath an incoherent vigil's unorthodox rite of
incarnate passages' disconnected resolve mid consequential rationale

 thereupon...

timelessness is but a variable symbol
    factored in mankind's hallucinatory prayers

Four and Eight of States

What is love?

Is it reality?

Is it your best friend? An illusionary mind full of per-ambles...AND THEN tomorrow again?

Can it get, like a machine can shop?

Do we spiel and squeal like wheels-

or the heels and hails in the hails?

What is diatonic in petitionary collusion(s)?

I see disputing commendations and suspended dreams with smoke and things...

I see how everything can clash, and then we need a piece...

Lindsay Lohan - Part Two

She exudes the struggle of acquiring autonomy from her “faux mother” charmingly characterized. dramatized, and energized by Jamie Lee Curtis. The ladder reputable, suitable and quantifiable role as Doctor Tess Coleman transfixed at the larger than life superb therapist.
Despite the countless unflattering run ins with the law (sans, the emotional travails regularly broadcast afflicting the particularly mid/late twenty year old Lindsay Lohan), this chap can empathize, realize and sympathize mental health issues.
A substantial proportion of thine lviii birthdays counted from this anonymous fellow experienced profound anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic attacks, and as an added bonus schizoid personality disorder.
Thus, as the media hounds ferociously, meanly and vicious tore into the private antics of a starlet supposedly plagued with mailer daemons, I lamented the constant besiegement of popular culture craze to glean scads of disheartening, demeaning and daring to lambaste (who I presume to be) an exceptionally beautiful, justifiably gainful, and opportunistically lustful questing toward worthwhile peacefulness, stillness and to remain anonymous amidst the madding crowd.
No ulterior motive incites this astute, destitute, and glute (joyful my poop site works) tea us Maximus (palm pilot size) chap to cast his commendations in regard to one personality who found a figurative soft spot within the bosom of this beastie boy.

What Happiness Means For Me

Happiness, or ambition, dreams, self-expression and dignity,
Asserts that you are living just as you think you should,
Powerful enough to articulate your own thoughts,
Possibly quietly, if a question surrounds your behaviour;
It is contentment with your life, dynamics and lot,
Not lots of money, partners or commendations,
Ends with wealth, relationships and respect,
Sends you forwards to peace and pleasure,
Secures equanimity, confidence and gladness true.

A Presence Like the Wind

Through the doors of my heart
Her presence enters,
A trail of light, wind, and commendations
Of summer escort her footsteps
Sashaying the strands of her hourglass garment.

Impressions stretched like sunlight on a prism,
As wind whispering thru river reeds,
As cool as beach wind stroking tenderly
Across the hairs of my skin:
Beautiful enigma, my African konga

Playing your melodic rhythms on the floors of my being
Opens me to wind that is you. You, my crystal wind
Washing away brine that has been tied to the waters of my soul.
Your eyes place me in utopia, your hands bring me succour
From the muddy places that have held me in itches

Your presence is a softness
Chilling as the wind, woman.

Inherited Medals

Each of us is a warrior:
For earthly survival,
For the Lord of our soul.

What determines the time of service
For each individual warrior?
Conscription? Consumption?
Was this culprit a volunteer?

An honorable discharge
Is really all the old warrior seeks.
In the end the medals and commendations
Don't matter
As iconoclasts, gathering dust at the last.
In the material form they represent
Symbols, of the warrior's human achievement,
Rusting, deteriorating, without a hint
Of what they originally meant.

Value not the icon,
But hold it close to your heart.
It represents the culmination of humanity,
And your memory of it, the most precious part.

Premium Member Blessed Friendship

Blessed with friends* who love me as I am
I thank God for them… precious treasures indeed
Whose compassion ways’ worth enrich my soul graciously
Along with their faithfulness --- priceless --- so dearly valuable.
Bracing me upon their supportive and cheerful spirit,
They enable me to do my best joyously for the Lord’s glory;
Propping, propelling and pushing me to prevail midst failures’ distress
Through their faith-driven prayer and servant heart-fueled testimony.

Helping me become the poet God wants me to be!

Take Your Stand

society has fallen prey to the status quo
unwilling to stand up for the God we all love and know
more concerned with being acceptable in the eyes of man
afraid to step out, to blaze a trail or even to take a stand
looking for approval from any and everyone
searching for commendations until the day is done
but a true Christian, a child of God can always discern
to stand up for God no matter how hot the fires will burn
and hope that those who worship false idols will one day see
that to fall under the devil's influence will lead to purgatory

don't ever let go of what you truly believe in life
take your stand and hold firm to the principles of the Lord Christ
be willing to stand boldly and tell society to it's face
that you wholly trust in the one true God who is full of mercy and grace
for greater is the God that is in me
greater than anything that man could ever be

take your stand in life and be true to your beliefs
don't fall for society's ways of ease and relief
don't hang with crowds for they'll slow you up or hurry you along
stand alone in the righteousness of God knowing right from wrong
tell that group of so-called friends you don't have time for pettiness
as you're too busy listening to God and keeping His holiness

fear not said the Lord, it's time to stand and fight
don't worry about the enemy for his dark can't diminish God's light
the enemy may huff and he may puff but he can't blow your foundation down
for you are standing on the word of God and are now on higher ground
for the devil is a liar and like a hooker always on the stroll
so be anxious over nothing as Father God is in control

to be like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
to refuse to bow down to a graven image with a golden glow
take your stand, hold to God's hands and let the whole world see
that you won't accept any and all types of immorality
take your stand, stick up for Christ and tell the so-called powers that be
that you will only kneel down in the face of the Lord God's authority
take your stand, keep the faith, trust in God and have no fear
for He's in complete control and will always be there
