Hallucinatory Prayers

Fallen upon knees in ashes of pipe dreamer’s infatuation
chimera's collective stardust reigning through macrocosms,
world spins counterclockwise unrealistically bound hiatus
stained glass mirrors fracture in rhetorical opposition,
earthly beings condensed to mere commonplace residue
threadbare allegiances written on worn out constitutions,
idly spinning cogwheels from premier breath to closer exhale
angels hark intensely attempting to assuage inevitability
whilst calm winds yield to maelstroms' imitative gesticulations
forfeitures of human activity sacrificed in sins' germinal vices
banal platitudes reinforcing an elusively unoriginal existence,
dancing 'round the fire tween inquisitions' reluctant commendations
preparedness on conventional suspension of ill-advised reiterations,
awaiting surrender 'neath an incoherent vigil's unorthodox rite of
incarnate passages' disconnected resolve mid consequential rationale

 thereupon...

timelessness is but a variable symbol
    factored in mankind's hallucinatory prayers

I was curious to see who Poetry Soup' s no 1 poet is. My sentiments are the same as Chris' . I shake my head in disbelief. Its simply a fantastic piece of work. Congratulations

I don't even care what burlesque means, this is brilliant poetry my dear! And it is going into my fav's. If you keep writing like this the sky is the limit. You and Chris both blow me away. The soup is lucky to have you. Do you hear the word genius often? I would like to see you and Chris collaborate on a piece together, now that would be something. Food for thought!

Short version, burlesque is a literary dramatic mockery. You just spun my head with your review Rick! Thanks, very much appreciated! As for collaborating with the romance King, I'm not sure I can compete with the likes of him. :)

This was interesting to read: lines where vocabulary and structure compete in balanced form, yet vying for supremacy. It robs one a bit of breath, so I was glad to see it end, yet feeling robbed, for a bit more would have been pleasurable. You're a bit of a rogue wave on an often drab and shapeless sea made all of soup.

Have you ever heard of Giger? This poem reminds me of his work. Paintings and sculptures, detached and dystopic at times. Incredibly goof Paloma.

I hadn't, but I googled him, that's quite the compliment Darren, thanks so much!

I just noticed, it seems when I sit here reading your poems I shake my head back and forth, not in a negative way but in an "I can't believe what I am reading and I am so in awe" kind of way. The way you weave words and thoughts create some of the most amazing poetic tapestries I have ever seen. The patterns and colors are always mind bending and blowing (in that order) Out of the park Paloma
