Premium Member Four Cafes
High above the quiet, darkened streets of January, the night wind begins to whisper secrets through my apartment window casements. Far below me lie four cafes, all in sync as they awaken from daytime hibernation to begin an evening ritual of turning on lights, welcoming...

It stood on the top of the hill
dominating all of its surrounds.
Its drawbridge these days lay open
spanning with ease the now dry moat.
Like a fairy tale fortress it had turrets
that soared up high brushing the clouds.

Its four towers majestic as blankly,
they stared, covering all points...

Premium Member Cracked But Not Broken
When the morning light,squeaks through the vanes;
of wooden casements and windowpanes.

When eyes glued shut, from night time fears,
are opened wanly to mornings clear.

That’s when in the corners of my mind,
thoughts of you rush forth to find;

Soft smiles, open arms and a warm heart,
You know I’ve loved...

Rain
I hail rain
In wintery nights
When it showers

And scented puffs of damp
 Cool breeze
from my orchard
Strikes against my
Cheeks

While I stand in
Corridor
Where
Phantoms of the yester_ years
Awaits
All bathed in sleet

While autumnal leaves ships
Float
And fall in yard
And compose music...

Allamanda, Our Trumpeters
Opening my eyes after a night long rest
I cuddled in my soft cushiony bed
And looked outside my sunny arched windows.
The glorious king was lazily greeting
My cottage garden laden with white garden chairs
Around the green lawn glistening with the night's dew.

My heart warmed and a...

Turn and twist cutout paper dolls
Strung across blown out window casements
Creating daily...

Halloween Poems Iv
the Horror
by Michael R. Burch

the Horror lurks inside our closets
the Horror hides beneath our beds
the Horror hisses ancient curses
the Horror whispers in our heads

the Horror tells us Death is coming
the Horror tells us there’s no hope
the Horror tells us “life” is futile
the Horror beckons, “there’s...

Today,
there are no rubber ducks
or mother's marigold skirts
to hide behind
as we once did.

In their place,
lurking dark and hoary,
a bathtub mist
updrafts thick with loose spores,
and mildew veins
sprawling
behind caulked-over creases.

The day,
shrinking away heavy with time,
as a body
sagging
into
water.

Even the washing suds have gone sour,
worn out honeysuckle soap.
Vibrant bubbles...

The Song of a Thirsty Flower
The song of a thirsty flower

Hey, I have waken up
Early in the morning,
But, nobody there to greet me,
Except the sun-shine,
And the blue heaven,
And sometimes the watery springs
Come and make a get-together
For having the celebration
Of my silvery existence,
But, alas! They only shower
Pity, not rains,
And like the...

IF YOU PULL A LONG FACE : Part XXIX

IF you pull a long pained face
The kind poets affect and gladly display
Throughout the ages with their lonely-heart feelings in lyrical grace
You might end up Precious Pearl in harem of some Arabo-Turkish Bey

If you then pull that...

Finding Presence

Night sky beckoning dawn
Gentle sensations
Early morning walks
Empty avenues
Central Park breezes
Village cobblestone streets
Wet with glistening reflections
Accompany the seeker’s every move

Citified whispers
Discordant choruses
The street cleaner
The sliding steel-front security doors
Excited canines straining leashes
Open casements echoing emphysema-regrets
Merging with the early morning smells and start-up images
City’s...

The Book Shop
A second hand book shop watches the Sunday rain
beat against a resentful pavement. Its second hand
door opens up its second hand world to second
hand people, carrying first class money.

The newly welcomed, carrying in second hand rain,
congeal into groups of mildly interested beings.
And a dedicated few...

Seven things to grab in a hurry
My house going up in a blazing fury...
