AWAKE ~ IN and OUT ~

Spring arising, before morning light,
I walk under the new epic sun
The aroma of yesterday, gone
Today's the day that will follow tomorrow
I quickly walk a certain walk
Unique is all I can display
Watery eyes staying in the past
While vehicles pass and pass
Crosses lacking faith
I stay awake and mend with my fate
Foggy toys, I want to play
I can't keep up with all your kicks
I look, I stare, at the walls
Bright and early, I step on old dolls
I stay and feel, the way you want
Lifeless, and still so full of energy
Mad words, unconscious forces
My sweet needs, now reside inside of you
Mad, sad, and outside the box
You close every door and keep me away from dark

You only allow me to feel your morning light
Why can't you let me see what's behind the shadows?
Why do you turn on all the lights?

I'm here the way you want me to be
Happy, and merry, for the world to see
This blindness will continue to spot
Unless you wake up first and remove the dot
You gave me the thirst, you once knew
So filthy, so full of -spew
Under this closed freaking door
I'm exposed like the midday sun
You bang my head on the wall,
You killed me in a way that made me feel!
I only answer to your call
In and out a hoop~ like a ball
In me, you can not find any real dreams!
Inside you filled me with a raging scream

Sssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I'm in wonder around your air castle
Strange and hung on your mantle
Stepping on a one footed slave

Alert, alert Am I!!!
I shake, we kiss, I wake,
You sleep...........................
I zip all things into one zipper.
Pounding my hands against my ears
Crazy, taking a jab upon all jabs
Crazy, you say~ that's me everyday
I'm up and I caress the photo we once had
I lay only staring at you once more
I awake before I sleep
Your promises I keep
In me~ you are also in deep
My stars change everyday
Waiting for you, to pull the trigger
Still wishing to be a sun digger

You can't touch or loosen the knots
Together we will daydream our way to the top
I make your nerve system come alive,
We run into the wind and listen
Quietly in our chamber of thoughts
Near and far, we both nod off
In this daily race, with no face
No space,
I caught myself awake,
The day I fell asleep for you.

Premium Member What Keeps Us Awake

While moon makes place for sun
dark sky duvet pushed back
stars close their eyes

The restless few
their beady eyes
small marbles
see all
and everything
hip ceaselessly
don't find peace

The intellectuals
philosophize the dark away
invent intricate
solutions
to external worldly
problems
and internal
personal dark

Morning light
moves deep inside
propped up on walls
shines a soft glow
that brings peace
if only for a short while

Dying, We Awake To Eternal Life.

His fragile fevered brow is soaked with life’s sweat
Nearing the end, his death has not arrived just yet
Shivering, his body is on fire, he makes a gentle sigh
His frame broken down by the years now passed by
The end of the final chapter, his book has grown old
Soon in a faith filled church, his past tales will be told
He’s a person, loved, surrounded by his living history
His family hold one another, parts of his closing story
Go quietly now love, for the time has come to move on
Hush now, your wearied tiredness, is oh so nearly gone
Soon the warmth of living will become so stiff and cold
Leaving this earth’s dusty soil, so as to join an eternal fold
He enters deaths doorway that will close quickly behind
A peace beyond imagination, a kind welcome he will find
Tears flow, fond goodbyes are spoken a kiss of farewell
Do not mourn too long have faith, know he is now well.

Premium Member Awake Compassion X

Awake compassion!
Your destiny's call, do not disregard,
                                            obey!
Scorch the frantic passions,
Smash the rocks of excess,
And bar the streams of hate!

Awake compassion!
Your luminous face, do not turn
                                         away!
Open the gates of charity,
Trace the path of happiness,
And light mercy's holiest flame!

Awake compassion!
Your noblest hour has come,
Humanity's decree to proclaim!

Premium Member My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake

For many years I trudged along
(but in my heart there was a song)
         through life’s hard game of give and take;
my muse once sleeping is awake.

The rhymes inside were always there,
   but never had a thought to share;
         kept to myself for prudence sake;
my muse once sleeping is awake.

Then one day Debbie did suggest
these rhymes be shared with all the rest,
         to have these thoughts is no mistake;
my muse once sleeping is awake.

Now ink flows freely from my pen,
   and graces parchment now and then;
         she’s always here with rhymes to make;
my muse once sleeping is awake.

Poem of the Day - July 17, 2019

Premium Member My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake

A birdsong floats upon the breeze
And flutters softly through the trees
What music once my words did make
My muse once sleeping is awake!

My words with wings that used to fly
Have fallen from a somber sky
A gust of wind is all it'll take
My muse once sleeping is awake!

It left without a word to say
My skies once blue, have turned to gray
Then thunder roars, I feel the shake
My muse once sleeping is awake!!

I wander blindly through a mist
Trying to find the words I missed
Yet through the clouds a light will break
My muse once sleeping is awake!

The blackened veins of parlor’s scent.
The roses blue and weeping spent.
The dismal pen — a slogging snake.
My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake.

A harbinger hung on the door —
This shrouded wreath — a heartless core.
The piercing words, a pounding stake.
My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake.

For if I’d only been dreaming . . .
Then why my lips senseless screaming?
The serpent raps, I feel its shake —
My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake.

The faint of dread, when quill was dry,
I wondered if it’s breath would sigh.
No nightmares please! It’s my mistake!
My Muse Once Sleeping Is Awake.

Premium Member Awake Sweet Stolen Dream

       "Awake Sweet Stolen Dream"

I wandered outside my conscious element of thought
drifting into wonderlust of dreamland sequences like photographs
as I inhaled fragrant winds gliding upon gossamer wings
of lace and satin, streaming through pink cotton candy clouds.

I touched a rainbow traveling warp speed to rendezvous
with my lover, who appeared at my sheer will's emotion
for I had cast a magic spell upon his heart with hypnotic trance
he, helpless, had no recourse but to obey my dreamy wishes.

I tantalized my lovers' soul with happy innuendo as my muse
in dreams, love escalates to ultimate desire without penalty
then, suddenly, a rival resonated her displeasure of my game
fury of the White Witch chased me with her fiery wand, to mame.

my delicate dream evolved into nightmarish tone of fearfulness
as she drew closer, I realized consequences to treat love frivolously
so blatantly. as my tender tears urged my mind desperately to
awake from sweet stolen dream whose horror left me breathless.

in panic state secreting droplets of perspiration on flesh and bone
I released my fair silky skin from black lace negligee' trying
to open sleepy eyes of green stinging from tears of sorrow
peering across the bed, your warmth still lying there to caress.

that night I made a vow to cherish love so good and true
for dreams are predictors; omens of future events to come
waking to reality I treasure the beauty of love, not as a toy
to trifle with, as love will banish nightmares from realm of dreams.

as I awake from my sweet stolen dream of wanton folly
my heart is renewed in spirit with a softer side to dwell
among Angels rather than the evil dark side of manipulation
I now know Heaven is real .. and so is Hell.

Nested in the cat’s cradle
Paraded in a child’s fable
I have no voice, don’t let me die
No longer shall I live a lie
I have no soul nor thoughts to save
Unbeknownst to me is
this life beyond the grave?
A designer dainty as she
silky essence she creeps upon so free
and with sheer elegance
unveils a painted lady in a trance

Wake me before the dream ends
In this a lie I can’t depend
Ochre paint splat on walls
Tinted forewings so not to fall
Hindwings I hold up in pain
Fragile chitin, scales, and veins
Bleeding strokes of mango chutney
Opera gloves cobalt blue, cloak impunity
Wake me up! Before I drop
Still asleep, a standing prop
And when I open my eyes
I’ll have wings like butterflies

The bitter truth sounds insane
Blends of electronic elements
Mesh makes perfect sense distasteful
Nestled neatly prim and graceful
Kept in the dark where it’s unfair
Wake me lest I vanish in thin air
In my dream a translucent permanence
I stand alone and have woken an evanescence

She Died Alone

3 am in the morning..
Still awake..
too busy Wiping
blood off the marble floor...
tried putting myself to sleep
Listening to some happy songs...
But that moment my heart broke
The moment i realised i was all alone...
Mom knocked the door
Hearing from my room some wierd noise..
"Im fine mommy" shouted i from behind the door...
With tears dripping ,
The ones that i couldnt hold...
" got scared hearing a loud cry"she told
With relief seeing a smile i faked so bold...
5 am... still awake..
Called my friend cuz i was alone....
She didnt pick
Like i was someone unknown...
Called a few .. ones i call 'BROs'..
To see if they would respond...
Excused themselves saying
They were tired and put up a show...
6 am ... still awake...
Took a bottle of pills just to say
Its too much for me to take...
And im broken beyond repair...
6:30 am....
still waiting with love someone to say..
That they love me too the same way...
But got a little dizzy ...
7:00am still awake ....
My eyes started dimming..
But tried my best to wait...
For that someone who would make that day
A little brighter with the love they'd say...
7:30 am.. no longer awake...
Little by little started fading away...
Little by little dripping away...
I died still waiting for someone to say
" U r mine , i cant let u fade"....
That word was all i needed to stay awake.....
But poor me...i died alone and died in pain...

It Was Dark - Poem To Keep You Awake Contest

It was dark in the Air Raid Shelter
Water underfoot
Candles had long since extinguished
But the battle raged  all night

Mrs Brown
She's the nosey one
Had peeked though a chink
Sky red with fire cant see anyone

A child started whimpering
Are we  going to die
The words started off a chorus
Of cries and shouts "why"

Was a long night
Noise was horrendous
Not knowing was worse
Was fire all round us?

Did we have a chance
Then a lone voice started to sing
Slowly we all joined in
"We'll meet again" echoing

At last the door opened
Daylight blinded us
We were still alive
Our homes were a mess

Then I awoke in a state of trembling fear
Thinking of loved ones lost in the war

I Dream Awake

Shredded remnants of foolish desire
Binding me long to this earth
Fade now
To small regrets
Of wasted time.

Strident bits of childish dreams
Holding me strong to this world
Fill instead
With pure reflections
Of grace.

And I sleep upon
Quiet pools of love
Sparkling brilliant blue
Against the harsh pull
Of arid pain.

And I dream awake
In visions of exultation
Binding me fast to heaven,
Borne along
By streams in my desert.

Premium Member Am I Even Awake

(Inspired by lyrics of Bonamassa's "Woke Up Dreaming")

Sometimes life can be very hard.
My dog died. Worse though,
my sweetie’s not around.
Feeling so morose;
feeling so forlorn.
Where’s that good fortune
I thought I once had found?

Is this world our reality?
Folk’s going crazy.
A nightmare more it seems.
Politicians lying;
sad people crying.
Are we still alive
or just living bad dreams?

I pinch myself and sometimes I think
maybe we even
pinch ourselves in dreams.
Life hurts. Dreams hurt.
My health’s worth dirt.
Folks going crazy.
A nightmare it all seems.

Dog’s doggone; wish he never died.
Miss my sweetie so.
In my heart’s a giant ache.
The world is careening.
Somewhere someone’s screaming.
Are we all dreaming?
Am I even awake?

The world is careening.
Somewhere someone’s screaming.
Are we all dreaming?
Am I even awake?

Awake nations

"This poem marks the beginning of a new era, a time when nations will unite in harmony. The poet, Shina Okram, seeks to convey the dawn of happiness that awaits humanity after a devastating universal war. Shina Okram is not a profound thinker or writer, but rather a visionary who simply wishes to share her glimpse of a future that is yet to come. This prophecy may be seen as fiction now, but it holds the promise of becoming a reality."

                        Awake nations

Awake nations awake
A new Era awaits,
Where diversity blossoms into unity,
And nations entwine as branches of a single tree.

The chorus of humanity will rise
As every voice, every instrument
And every heartbeat merges into a celestial hymn.

In this glorious age,
The viel of separation will lift,
Revealing the Divine essence,
Shining through every God,
Every faith and every soul!.

                                                               - Shina Okram
