I Dream Awake

Shredded remnants of foolish desire
Binding me long to this earth
Fade now
To small regrets
Of wasted time.

Strident bits of childish dreams
Holding me strong to this world
Fill instead
With pure reflections
Of grace.

And I sleep upon
Quiet pools of love
Sparkling brilliant blue
Against the harsh pull
Of arid pain.

And I dream awake
In visions of exultation
Binding me fast to heaven,
Borne along
By streams in my desert.

This reminds me of a lost soul looking for love, finding it, and happily allowing fate to take it's course. Great introductory poem to introduce yourself to Poetry Soup >> James :)

thats really nice!..thankyou for checkin out and commenting on my poem. as far as who i am writing for.. the majority of my poetry is just a reflection of things i witness in the world. i have yet to write a "love poem" for a specific person.

Very good depiction of the cycle of life. In our youth we make our mistakes, which lead to wisodom as we get older. This wisdom is what prepares us to meet our inevitable fates.
