Best Applause Poems
Day after day we’re trying to reach inside to pen
that one poem that:
Stands out above the rest
Has that it factor
Is deep and thought-provoking
Will put you in the spotlight
Have others speaking about your talent
Will put you in the in-crowd
Will make you popular in SoupVille lane
My question is, is your ink from your heart?
Dip your ink in your soul and make a splash, whether it’s big or small, on a blank canvas and write your truth: applause or no applause.

Lost in Applause
I let the book fall from my hands,
relishing the tumbling words
…I fell
I let the air fall….. so I could breathe
below the surface
I retrieved the pages I read on
the way down, calling out the turning
chapters as baby elephants ran through
my coffee shop, unable to prevent
the poster announcing the circus in town
starring their tortured parents
suddenly the poster burst into flames,
burning all the lies hidden between the
lines, singeing the white-face-clown,
the self-proclaimed “ruler of the wild”
for centuries, speeches carved in ivory
beneath monuments to truth,
lay buried in silence,
and no one to talk to
...no one
to talk to

Round of Applause
Already now I must admit
What is it we have to hit?
How about homer with baseball
Not strike three they did call.
Why fool around and always fret
Should kick a goal into the net
Don't continue to turn and toss
Should go at and play Lacrosse.
How about football you will boot
Run and produce a lot of loot
Or hear those in high society
Prefer polo and love rugby.
No matter where chips may fall
God's life in you will be a ball
And who if in always do believe
Round of applause will receive.
WOW. Double WOW, and Triple WOW.
James Thomas Horn
Retired Veteran
Dipped in frenzied simpatico
as easily as tango's release
the lyrics changed course
toppling over stances
notes were stacked
against the flight
stomping on horizontal
chaotic dancers,
music beating shrillingly
off key serenades
wafting midst dark leather & feathers
tripping edges' rapturous chants
of deep bass in the chest,
giving off sultry chills
covered in heavy cloaks of jazz & finesse,
strutted neath the pallor
of indigo moonlight
teetering on ledges of flimsy
tightrope convictions
holding no culpable meaning,
floated til whorling muses stumbled
to inevitably crash & burn,
whilst same tunes bellowed deafening
guttural melodies injected
into symphonic lures,
played like a fiddle at
chords of quarter tone sharp,
complicated steps spun 'round & bout
faltering over harmony's concerto,
cacophonous symposium brought music
to a screeching halt,
all that remained was silent applause
A summer storm has struck upon the stage.
Like clouds, faces in the crowd change to black.
As lightning triggers sudden disengage,
tonight’s entertainment can stay on track.
The wit he’s stored within his mind’s spice rack
can use this summer rain in which to mull.
Dry humor, soaking wet, delivers smack
and thunderous applause says he’s not dull.
This stand-up comic entertains without a lull.

a Spencerian stanza
This site is da bomb, my haven so to speak
It's where I go to mellow out
Away from the ugly news of the day
That we constantly hear about
Without the Soup, my life would be boring
I'd walk around mumbling away
Oblivious to the big old world passing by
Whatta great way to start the day
So many great people call P-Soup their home
Scattered throughout this big planet
Personalities as varied as the fish in the ocean
So many, they run the damn gamut
From witty, to clever, intellectual to romantic
We all call it home sweet home
A retreat, a getaway from all of life's hassles
A place to let our true hearts roam
So let's hear some of that thunderous applause
For those who bring us the Soup
All of us would probably fade into oblivion
Instead, we're just happy as poop

Silver nail tips nails painted black accentuated her skin.
Her pantsuit was coordinated with her accessories.
Her conversation was of political activism.
She was sharp as a tack and her mind was keen.
She was a trailblazer in her game.
Political office she would acclaim.
The members of her party gave her the highest praise.
Approbated in opinion she spoke.
She would win this campaign was everyone’s hope.
This is my time in space she stated.
As I stand amongst my people in this political forum, our way will form.
I am filled with esteem because you believe in me.
Our struggles will be over.
Strife is economical.
We are the obsolete proof in which we construct a new school of thought.
She was given an applause.
That is when she asked…
Please, may I have your attention?
{The Power House became quiet}.
We are old-fashioned people with modern ways.
We must base our advocacy on what is out-of-date.
I have unearth the treachery of immigration.
I have exhume the undisclosed knowledge of slavery.
Once in office, I will construct.
Unveil my administration to what our goals are.
This land is my land.
I am that strength and courage.
We will correct this nation’s antiquity defeating yesterday.
{The Power House stood in ovation}.

October lingers on the soul
Harvest blessings
In hues of hope
October sky’s
Shimmering in your eyes
Reminding me why I can delight
In the whisper of Autumn
Coloring the whole world
Shades of scarlet, tangerine
And gold mélange
October sun
Combined with dew brushed dreams
Succulent loves smiling serenity
Throughout the morning
Forever warming
Alive and flowing
With joy
October nights
Vibrant and alive, clearly driven
By passions of healing
Winds, soft and silent
Caressing the spirit
With intimacy
October thrives with praise
Sensations of life
Prayers of faith
Admiration
October laughs at the moon
Longing for its breath
To soothe away the darkest
Shadows of stardust moments
Caressing the past
With memories
Nostalgia
October sings to souls
Inviting grace to shine
As wisdom arouses the light
To stroke the melodies
With shades of faith
Dancing to the sound
Of Autumn’s silence
October shines big
In flavors of pumpkin spice
Leathery leaves so crisp
Warnings of cool wishes
Crying to the peaks
Repeating the refrain
Of penetrating whispers
Yearning for the closing
Of a fragile Summer bliss
October is the second chance
For God to speak His kindness
Across the backdrop of tranquility
On wings of utmost belief
His finger lifts from its canvas
To show a world filled with
Wonders and miracles, amazement
October’s applause admiring God’s creation
Thunder Gives Its Preceding Applause
The Rain gifts blessings multi-fold,
aided by its sister Wind, earth reaps.
Bounties plentiful, harvests gold ,
as into awaiting soil it seeps.
Fields cry for the coming spray,
showers sent to man and beast.
If withheld we begin to truly pray,
so that we live and may have a feast.
Echoes in Heaven announce the Rain,
thunder gives its preceding applause.
A gift, same as in our births pain,
we must conform to Nature's laws.
Skies above gift this blessing down.
Upon earth's thirsty, waiting gown.

Note-
Nature's gift, this bounty we receive,
Gods love, even as Satan deceives
Look up to give returning praise,
for from death only He was ever raised...
what can i do
who could i be
i don't want to be you
i've got to be me
yes, i've a need to grow
to live and learn
the world isn't my foe
but a friend i must earn
i was generally opposed
to being societies clone
but now hell has proposed
and i can not condone
i only seek to be a better man
though the way isn't always clear
i do believe, i have, and still can
a changed man sits writing here
i'm not what i was "then"
years ago is not today
though maybe not a respectable man
i'm more okay, and just want to say
!@!%#$@^%#$% YOU!
thank you, thank you
woops, relapse!
thunderous applause
alternate reality...
five people have died

Applause, applause
So, you say our scene’s over
But I’m calling for an encore
No repeats yesterday
Of opening night
I miss the fumbles
When we didn’t really know what we were doing
It’s all too smooth now
It’s almost right
a faceless man
stands on the corner and waves
as if on a stage
as if delivering
the third and final act
from a play
from life
Once the curtain is down
All lights then turn to dim
Music slowly trails off
As the self bows back in
Moments of reflection
Memory becomes faint
When the thrill has left you
And you wipe off the paint
You think of what it was
That you have then just done
Knowing all it has meant
Amazed if you had fun
You aren't even quite sure
If you'll keep going on
In search of more footlights
To brighten your soul song
