Best Apathetic Poems
Face to face they stand
Brain to brain
Two-eyed flesh machine
And one-eyed plastic terminal
Interacting systems
Inputting, outputting, precious data.
Face to face they sit
A complex team
Driven to perform
With error-free precision
In a controlled mini-world
Ruled by instant communication.
Face to face they lie
Worlds apart
Stark, cold plastic eye
Flashing programmed data;
Warm, sentimental flesh eyes
Flashing non-programmable twinkles.
Face to face they act
Separate and alone-
Ruled by the giant, apathetic-
God of Technology.
Bleached shells catch the sun
and throw it back again,
pearled cup-hearts smoothly clean,
long ago picked bare,
the forgotten feasts of ghost birds.
Waves lick forlorn sands
but cannot coax those dispassionate shells
to frolic in the happy surf;
empty, they choose the dry beach
just out of reach of happiness.

Apocryphal embellishments of
a non-canonical secret society,
teeming amidst a dubious
enterprising authenticity,
exposure's excessed stormy decay of
tormented poet's crushing blows,
ego's wild oats fruitlessly sown
rampaged rush to save their own flesh,
poesy's wildflower blooms wilted
under acid rein's torridity of seduction,
hence poetry's infertile demise unto
dusty shelves' apathetic surrender
In front of impending disaster
He stood there
Right beside the operation theater
Watching his parents
Going mad with pain
A thousand thoughts were flowing in his mind
What would happen if his brother couldn’t survive
The doors get opened
What he feared the most just happened
His mother unconscious
His father lying on floor, crying like a baby
His heart was erupting with pain
But he was fine
He walked, signed the documents
He had to do so...
He was to be strong...
He was supposed to laugh in the face of Anguish
A nurse looked at him with his mouth opened
“The death of his brother left no mark on him,
How cold-blooded!”
He arranged the funeral and buried the dead
Took his parents home, dried their eyes
And went out at night
Cried,
The sky watched him,
The moon and stars watched him,
He cried till Dawn,
The water rolled over his face
And were stolen by the thirsty Mud
He came home at Dawn,
Went to office and came back in the evening
To sooth his parents,
Made sure they didn’t sleep hungry
And then, went out again...empty stomach
To shed tears--- dark
That nobody would see
For what thing is visible in dark...

And she smiles in my face
But if I say nothing, she is without a trace
She's always on my mind but she doesn't seem to care
A one way love can never be fair
For while the recipient feels apathetic
The lover can only be pathetic
Wallowing in his lowly fantasy
Dreaming of a distant future of serenity
Living an empty world, reflecting an empty soul
No second half to complete a whole
Nothing to raise my spirits as we remain separated far
I only wish nothing could tear us apart
Nothing in this fleeting world of diminishing time
Just an impossible mountain we've been charged to climb
As we grip onto falling boulders
I only wish I was on your safe shoulders
Because coupled is the only way we can climb this hill
Otherwise I can't see how we'd do this by will
But here we are
Aligned above you are the stars
A constellation of an arrow facing your direction
The cure to my life, diseased with you, my infection
Though perhaps the arrow is pointing past you
Through you, telling me to move on from this woo
You're probably not worth it, and ignorantly I hadn't a clue
My soulmate, there's no celestial sign indicating who
Only the gray winds and changing feelings
Flawed logic in need of gross healing
But this one does not hold me as highly as I do with her
And I am intoxicated in love's seductive myrrh
She remains in a state of apathy
Her life goes on and her world spins affably
Me the unnecessary variable, the marginal tragedy
As my heart beats on with this fatal malady

To dwell in an apathetic realm between darkness and light,
not caring if people hear or listen to me, would be a plight.
Being stoical, taciturn and indifferent to pain or pleasure,
when emotions are unsung for there are none to measure.
Being aloof could never be my long-term objective.
I'm not passive about things, but it's a stoic's perspective,
that being neutral prevents them from becoming fraught
over things they deem inconsequential, and care naught.
They wear the blank expression of a cow ruminating cud.
Though thorns may stab their flesh, tears will never flood.
In silence they suffer pain as if their heart has been ablated,
accepting apathy as the destiny with which they were fated.
Let others bow and pray to stone images of gods they make.
Fools, who do not know sentiments can cause heartache.
Stoicism is a concept, the accepted philosophy of the mind.
They find tranquility when indifferent, but I am not that kind.
Apatheia is the goal, detachment from pleasured passion,
but I'd not be stoic if love is an emotion I'd have to ration.
Tears well in my eyes when whispered words of love I hear.
I'm not stoical by nature. There are too many things I revere.

The Apocalypse is done
just stand outside
in the forever
nearing sun
Passionless I see each new day arrive and depart.
I shall not falter upon any deed.
I betray not
Why is this feeling plaguing my mind and spirit?
I was never insensible to my deity.
Or ever will be.
Listless I lay upon the life before me and beyond.
Apathetically I continue with a plea.
I will awake.
got an apathetic sympathizer
sizin’ up the scene
s/he’s been lecturin’ on the circuit
s/he’s been weighin’ on the brain
s/he’s been speakin’ like s/he’s
been alive, a hundred thousand
years,
like there’s wisdom bleedin’ out
her/his nose &
dripping out his/her ears---
s/he’s the type of hypocrite who’ll
do exactly what’s s/he’s told (then
complain that it don’t work)---
drown all her/his sorrows in a bottle
then shove his/her ass off to work---
get mad when the man be tellin’ her/him
that what s/he’s doin’ gotsta change
then s/he’s back inside the bottle
washin’ possibility down the drain---
this be the one you know who lurks
at places that frequent resistance,
this be the same one who stands on the
sideline,
hoping no one sees em’ watchin’,
this be the one who will be the first to
run, the one who’ll turn us in, this be the
one who says they’ve always been
there for you, the one who swears that
they’re your friend &
the next time that’cha’ flair up,
the next time that’cha’ fight,
s/he’’ll come out of her/his cave
wavin’ a “tisk tisk” finger,
like what’cha’ doin’ isn’t right---
but the sure way to identify,
the way you know it’s them,
is that when push comes to shove,
when the world gets hot,
they say
“it’s the way it’s always been.”
can't point your finger of blame at me if its broken right
so would you like a broken finger or rib?
can't die from the joke your not telling that is killing you
would you like a broken rib or broken finger?
point and laugh if you must
at my broken nose
fighting for my rights as a human being
don't suppose I'll ever suppose
Blood all over my hands
scrubbing the floor
state of shock behind closed doors
blue revolution a suggestion
Guilty by assosiation
justified because of selfrighteousness
I could put myself in your shoes
dedicate my life to surrendering to me being the victom
paint over my reflection
so i could see what I want to be
find myself living beside myself
unable to keep a tidy bride
bribe the devil with my inner demons
full well knowing he loves the sin and not the sinner
Always closing off with a prayer
god to watch over you
as jesus finds his way to you
and the holy spirit to guide you
away from the wrath
I no longer have the strength
to keep at arms length
blood all over my hands
my blood
my broken nose
two men in uniform
broken finger?
broken rib?
whose the laughing stock?
the soulbound prayer hits back on judgement day
no paint over any mirror will cloak that illusion
What to do? What should he say?
Where will he be after this day?
The monster wasn’t really interested,
The monster knew, he was being tested.
These infernal days led him to ignore,
He knew he’ll walk through the door;
The door that separates life from death,
He knew that this could be his last breath.
Why should he worry, why should he fret?
He had faced death, he’d known the set.
Silently he got up, and went to the window,
Staring at the silver clouds way below.
So calmly he looked out to the sky,
Acknowledging in two days, he’d die.
Apathetic to your positivity.
We keep on running, because we can’t stand still.
We keep on climbing, because we have got to get up the hill.
We keep on searching for a better thrill.
We are humans and we strive to advance, using all of our will.
Forward we march, dragging the weaker man with us.
Onward we go, for the good of our health.
Drop and give me, twenty one-handed push-ups;
I am too lazy to evolve, so keep your thoughts to yourself.
You can advance the entire human race
And you have my full support.
As long as that doesn’t require anything from me.
I will not hinder your quest to find out more,
But I cannot bring myself to need anything but peace
And a place to be alone without your positivity.
