A Rainy May Day

I remember it like it was yesterday and I think in fact it was
A beautiful spring morning that could not go wrong because
The sun it was shining brightly way up in the sky
So I thought I would cut the lawn or at least give it a try

The lawn mower was pristine clean as I took it from the shed
The extension lead I uncoiled and to the mower it led
I started on the back lawn to mow my way around
I listened to my IPod as I pushed the mower across the ground

The cloud began to gather the light began to fade
It was just as if I managed to walk into the shade
Now the wind began to rise blowing grass cuttings in the air
I looked up to heaven thinking this just isn’t fair

A rainy may day was about to ruin my big mowing plan
And as the heavens opened suddenly I ran
Gathering up the mower the extension cable to
Emptying the mower box in to the recycling bin it flew

Then back into the shed all the bits and pieces went
As I ran back in the rain in the garage door I leant
So my mowing day was over the rain was pounding down
Even with my IPod on I had a dreadful frown

A rainy May day washed away my plans to cut the lawn
Yet I know I’ll get another chance a dry May day will dawn
Till then the lawn will stay half cut at least until it’s dry
Then I will get the lawn mower out and have another try

Windows 7

I had vista on my laptop and thought it was great
But then I learnt that it was out of date
I sent off to America to get an update
Windows 7 is better than XP which I hate

I bought a new laptop the other day
It was just before windows 7 OK
I was told I could have an update for free
So I paid twenty quid for the postage see

I upgraded my laptop with two discs to find
I was totally confused but managed of a kind
To load all the bits and pieces that I needed
Then windows 7 installation was succeeded

They say that windows 7 was made by us
I didn’t have a say in it, I missed the bus
I am trying out the system right now here
If I have any problems it’s my fault I fear

Self Portrait - Evolving

What lies behind the door,
Something you can’t see,
All the bits and pieces,
That reveal the true identity,
Of the person I call me.

A book reveals itself,
Once you open the cover,
Yet I remain a mystery,
Another unknown person,
Waiting to be discovered.

Only I hold the power,
The proverbial golden key,
That unlocks the door,
Hiding all the secrets,
Buried deep inside me.

Beautiful Day

Today is such a beautiful day
I'm lining my pockets with leftovers
So all the bits and pieces I save
Can be enjoyed for later

Once I get the day back home
And lay it out on the table
I'll take canning jars and put it all in
Each one with a different label

I'll label one "The Perfect Sunshine"
Another "The Right Amount Of Clouds"
I'll put "The Cool Breeze and Birds Song" both together
They'll mix well when I let them out

I'll add the laughter of the children
Cheerfully in their play
The fragrance of flowers in the fields
To my jars of beautiful day

There's no need to put a date on them
A day like this could never go bad
Perhaps I will add a special note
Open...for the best day you've ever had

Blank empty stare

So much life
the computer is twitching
turning
the paper is on fire
it’s burning
I’m calling out to you
you’re sitting in a chair
blank empty stare
life is a computer program that you’re clicked in
too much life that you could ever put yourself in
now the screen is blank just like your face
your life has turned sour
you’ve been sitting here for hours
the world has finally died
and you’re still alive
living life inside a computer
all the bits and pieces of your life have turned into bytes
computers are another way of life

Unremitting Serenade (Part three)

He came into your life from afar
At first he stood and watched from a distance
He whispered not to you but to another
Then he stepped closer to call forth-another one
This one like you
Sorrow called forth Nanator and with him your soul
He faded and tainted your most precious gift
He reached out to fleck my wings with grey too that day
For that day he nearly filled the well again
Still he had barely begun and his work grew ever closer to us both
This time he whispered to you from a foot away
Thus thrice he reached out to call forth another
Yet each time ‘twas I who wept for our suffering
For no tears have fallen from thine eyes in many years

Still Sunder gave you something in return for all he had stolen
Didn’t he . . . didn’t he
For all the bits and pieces of your soul
You were given something so dearly precious it hurt to have it
And now you lament with a voice to be heard
By the few who were to know the one buried so deep inside
The few to be loved and to love you
Desolation knew this would be so
So he whispers to you often now and from afar
Knowing that you cannot help but to listen and to grieve
With your new voice
Though it rarely rises above a breath to be a whisper
It sings of your great disenchantment
Your disbelief and your faith in the void
It allows you to cry
To tell the tale and story of your greatest sorrow

Within you there lies a faith of something more
And the desire to see
And cause the light to glimmer within another’s eyes
One whose life could carry your hopes within them
To lend your strength to
One who might have all that you denied yourself
For these long and many years
So heavy upon your shoulders
And yet this can never be and this is what despairs you so
For none to follow you
None at all
Never
Never”

And thus she spoke to me plainly
To show me my loss of faith anew
So in her despair in her sorrow
My unbelief breathes again
My search for desolation reborn
For this knowledge too great to bear
Thus I fled and so it was
I ran
A great many years
I hid myself deep within
Beyond the reach of sunlight and the eye of the moon
And in the darkness
I tore out all that caused my pain
I read everything again
To see
And to know
Why it was I had
So long ago embraced wholly my unbelief

All the bits and pieces

It took me all the bits and pieces to put you together on the floor
I tried to get you to walk, at least reach the door
But your legs are weak, I don’t know if you can walk anymore
I guess you can sit but I don’t want you to get bored

I watched you struggle all through therapy
I tried to help by talking, but you wouldn’t look at me
You told me you could do this all on your own
But I’ll be there for you, I don’t want to leave you alone

You’re all my bits and pieces, every part of me
I try to express that to you, but you didn’t see
I think we both have to relax and take a second to breathe
If not, just remember that you are my blessing

Take a second to look at me, I’m still the only person helping you
Don’t you see all the friends that you had moved on without you
I’m the only person that you still have
And I’ll love you with all the bits and pieces that
you
Couldn’t
grasp
