Divine Justice

Young Father Murphy, Parish Priest,
he rang Archbishop Moore,
advising him he suddenly
had taken rather poor.
"I'll not be fit for Sunday mass
as I'm confined to bed,
I'm hoping please your Eminence
you'll do it please instead."

"Good Father Murphy say no more,
for you should never doubt,
the willingness of love my son
to help a brother out.
So have no fear, your flock is safe,
I’ll shepherd it with love
and while confined you should confer
with him who is above."

Then as the cock crowed Sunday morn
good Father rose in haste
and gathered all his golfing gear,
there was no time to waste.
He parred the first and second holes,
his cheeks were all aglow,
when up in heaven Gabriel saw
the sinful priest below.

He took the matter higher up
for justice must be served.
The LORD said, "I've been watching son,
it's not gone unobserved."
The third it was a par three hole,
so Father gave it some,
his ball it lofted in the air
and Murphy holed in one.

Poor Gabriel he just looked in awe ...
the LORD sensed he was vexed;
How justice had been served that day
had Gabriel quite perplexed.
"Dear Gabriel it may seem to you
the priest has gained the most,
but when it's said and done my son,
to whom will Murphy boast."

Hair In Red Overalls

I

I knew a time when my sister, tall and fair
with her sage sense of humor, dull and non-existent
Seemed positively,
metallic, blessed with flowing shackles, a gift, extended only to me.
Limiting my growth past 8 years, haunting my dreams until age 21
always advising her younger sis, to teary boredom
“Do as I say”, “whereso’er I may”
Lend me your shoe to prove my superiority.
By night or day,
I am your stone Buzzard and I will pick your bones

II

This I suffered
The rainbow might as well have been between us,
For the roses lost their petals long ago
I can no longer feel their thorns, my toughened skin
Yet lately when I turn to cry for you,
The pain is far greater than I should bear
For (you) seep, from my tear ducts, a bloodless water driblet
Injury that keeps finding its way out
Purging the likes of you
In twin tissues

III

Infuriates me.
Each night from my pillow writhed
Come darkened silhouettes of your pigtails
I inhale one, in each nostril,
just so I can blow you away
Are you a sister of another mister?
My tormenter, my thumb umbrella
Cleanse me from your sticky sight
Allow my legs to find that gentle breeze called freedom
Before the very bone that we share dies
Making us look upon our mirrors
To find the frozen cordial face
As we pretend to plant, a history, of fond remembrance
When we are but plowing, our indignations in the ground

IV

Unbeknownst
I knew a time when my sister, tall and fair,
Sat braiding her curly brown hair
Finding me sleeping, without nary a sound
Wrapped her tight braid, around and around
Laughing as my life was slipped from sight
Dragging me constantly, round that night
So what if I, but a babe in skin
Was found by Dad, in the playpen
Hence, since, even now, my skin, crawls
Afraid of the hair in red overalls

Premium Member Love: "the God Precept Is Prior Cause"

An I am of Love is precept approved,
Doesn’t need approval of concepts' inept,
Doesn’t need the nod of man/woman, only God,
By precept of love’s absolve soul’s love is kept!

Seeing Love’s being is uncompromising,
Not of double mind concepts non-comprising,
Within one’s own precept love is the comprising,
Will be no rising in the mind’s compromising!

As yeast from the east, bread of life is apprising,
Pending only a few mind’s their realizing,
Of love’s precept which is uncompromising,
Where shall you be(?), at the precept’s advising…

In life’s ascension of illusion’s mountain,
Toward the drinking of your precept’s fountain,
Of clear, free moving waters, life appertain,
Where forever love’s precept shall be obtained!

Since the very dawn of precept’s greatness of spawn,
Parasites of concept’s might, sought the abject wand,
Oh Judas concept, mind inept, precept abscond,
The Stubborn Ox, the metaphor correspond!

The belligerent concept, of elder mind,
In complex darkness, is groping, seeking to find,
Within the whorish darkness first light’s refine,
Out of void of darkness came light, mind was blind!

~ Hey, Karin - returning your note ~

Perhaps I'm not your type, alas
But I'm behind you, here in class
Adoring each and every thing you do
The way you talk, so soft, yet clear
And tuck the tresses 'hind your ear
(The hair I'd love to run my fingers thru) ...

I love the way you tilt your hip
And always bite your bottom lip
Whene'er you get excited or annoyed
The way you pass me little notes
               Crimped origami birds and boats
Advising me which girls I should avoid ...

For me it's not the threads or bling
It's each sweet, steamy little thing
That other guys don't care about at all
     And yet, if added, two-plus-two
They make for one amazing YOU
(The enigmatic YOU I'd love to call) ...

You might not know me very well
A semester - long enough to tell
I'm apt to always treat you with respect
You're quite romantic, just like me
And know that love can someday be
As faithful as two hearts can thus affect ...

So, if I may, I'll start this task
As rhyme and meter, meant to ask
If you might give us just an evening each?
     Perhaps a steak house, Japanese
A theater then - that new release
And then a peaceful walk along the beach ...

The stroll may seem a bit too soon
But sad to waste that lovely moon
And what romance it weaves, no one can tell
I hope you'll flip this page and write
You'd love to date me, (Friday night)
But quickly now, before they ring ...

          The bell!

Friends Before Lovers

I see my gleaming reflection in your smile
Your eyes tell a story of a man in search
In search for what is real
In search of trust, loyalty and honesty
In search of what you are destined to become
I hope that in your search you see me
I hope that you see my life story without words
If you see and don’t understand I will bring clarity

You are a dim light with the determination to shine ever so brightly
You are an amazing, intelligent and perfectly sculptured creation
An optimist of all circumstance

You are a teacher
A caretaker of life
A philosopher

It is by your lead
By your example
That I learn
Patience
Confidence
Inner beauty
Knowledge to get me through daily
Wisdom to carry with me through life

I see your focus
I see your struggle
I see you

I accept you for who you are and who you are not
I accept your reasoning

I thank you for taking time out for me
Taking time to repair a woman who has been left in shambles
Thank you for listening, advising and giving direction
Most of all I thank for being available and giving clarity in the midst of confusion

It is because of you I open my eyes and see things for more than just my way
My ears are open to heed indirect and direct warning
You have caused tears to cease
You have brought restful nights of pure bliss
For all your greatness I am blessed and appreciate it more than words can say
Your glorious being touches me
Your mind is like an illuminating piece of art never duplicated
Finally I want to thank you for touching, giving and gracing my life
For you have open doors of endless possibility and my dreams have just come
true

Premium Member Old Gold, a Cat

An ancient scraggy yellow cat
(nape infected with crusty mange)
frequented our house, asking for food.
He was not shy announcing his presence
or asking to be fed alongside another
guest we call No Neck -- the two were friendly,
sharing twin feeding bowls amicably.
Old Gold often bore the scars, the bloody fur,
of a frequent skirmisher (and loser.)
He was feeble, his sight not good,
and his vocalizations in advising us of his presence
were loudly unmelodious.
He enjoyed a fond petting and was often seen
padding cautiously about on nearby streets --
a free, though aged, spirit.
It grieves me to report that,
with good intent, we took
Old Gold to treat his mange,
but, after tests, were told
he could not be treated.
He had feline AIDS and leukemia.
So, he needed to be put down.
There are no cures or treatment.
We miss his visits and his scratchy-screechy calling.
His roaming done, he rests now, quietly,
                                             in our garden.

Starbuck's Day

From my alarm's first beckoning
until that first Venti Columbian at Starbuck's,
I knew the day could be filled with stress.
There was an endless Leadership Staff
meeting where Hanrahan imposed his
histrionic will on all the less gifted there.
Basically, everyone.
Hanrahan saw to it that leadership staff
only addressed 4 of the 13
items on the agenda.
Perhaps because the final 5 items
on that agenda had to do with
improprieties in Hanrahan's work group!

I survived the morning to woof down
a deli sandwich and another
Venti Columbian Starbuck's. (Two bad
accidents at intersections on
the way to the deli.) They skimped
on the spicy mayo! I ate it anyway,
hearing echoes of Hanrahan advising
everyone to watch the Democratic debate.
"We need Hillary or Bernie, people!"
And me, a registered Republican. I'd rather
visit those two in a federal lockup
than hurl watching them lie on CNN.
"About votes and legalizing 'hippy lettuce'
I surmised.

Returning to work I was summoned to
the HR office. "Could you and Brandt
help with Vista Team for a while?"
Hanrahan was being terminated as
we spoke. "Be glad to help with Vista
Team, folks. I might even watch the
Democratic debate tonight!"
Hanrahan will have plenty of time to.
If I had been a Liberal about them I could
have begged, "My kingdom for a Xanax."
But, I am saved. Brandt is heading to the
deli for a late lunch. I give him a sawbuck,
tell him to have a sandwich, and P_L_E_A_S_E,
bring a Venti Columbian Starbuck's, dark and rich.
Just another day in the trenches.

Calendar Slipping Towards Autumn - Contest

Where has it gone
Those lazy days of sunshine
Making the flowers excel in their presence
What has happened, where did it go.

It's alright, just a seasonal change
The calendar is slipping towards Autumn
Soon we will have those shivering, wet days
Some sunlight, to begin with then
with the shortening days, the sun loses its way.

Before the hoar frost raises its white head,
the frozen dew, can kill a plant at once.
We will bring in the abundant harvest of corn,
the allotment holders will, pick their runner beans.
To take into their kitchen and cook in hot water
Drain, dash slithers of butter, twist or two of black pepper
Heaven on a plate.

Morning awakens, I look out of the window
Amazed to see a dusting of light snow
I rush to the garden, with icy fingers
I brush the white cold snow from the delicate plants
Covering them with special wrap to keep them warm. "

This is definitely a message advising us
To keep warm, take care
Remember the old folk who live alone
One day you might be the one living there.

Psychotherapy

Dear Patient, Welcome to the asylum of your mind.
Let’s get rid of the boundaries to which you’re confined.
Let’s sit down and discuss your medical record:
Schizophrenic disorders, Anxiety, hemorrhages,
all documented in one-hundred-and-forty-nine pages.
There are some treatments we haven’t explored.

Do you feel like you’re in constant company?
People told me about your constant soliloquy.
A feeling that someone’s around you, spectating?
The voices: are they advising or debating?
Is it more like a monologue or is it a dialogue?
To who is it that you constantly talk?

Son, Why won’t you leave the dead behind?
Within the asylum of your mind?

Angel

Angel.
I have a Guardian Angel
He loves and cares for me
Although I could be mistaken
He could be a she
In dreams it is my mother
When awake it is my wife
When driving he is advising me to care and tend for life
When I was in the army he guided me safety
When I was I Africa he guided me home
To think that he is a man or woman really doesn't matter
If we could see the truth behind the mirror of illusion would shatter
I know that in reality we are never apart
All I need to believe is that he is in my heart

Road Rager Gnome

Road Rager Gnome

There I was a going home,
4pm traffic going flowing,
driving me little Corolla, going,
when I saw this fool Road Rager ,

he seemed to lunge his car at me ,
and stop just short deliberately,
to try to cast some fear, in me,
just a bit of temper black,

I must have cut him off, perhaps,
His new Ford shining glass like wax,
He flew up the inside track,
And cut me off sharply,
 Whack,

I’d left the braking a little late,
My bumper bruised 2 doors his fate,
His fear now multiplying,
Me ole car was critisising,
 this silly flaming chap,

He roared amongst on-coming cars,
Put one on the footpath, shocked alas,
Flew down a side-street, so harassed,
His tyres had smoke arising,

So I kept on a driving home,
No bumper bent on me bloody own,
A lesson taught, the Rager Gnome,
Don’t try it I’m advising.

Displacement

Have you found a place in the world yet?
Perhaps just that one where you can belong?
A one place and time you have swept
A place you know you have lived to begone

Creating moments beyond grasp to flee
Have you that living moment for yourself only?
I would like to remember the moments that made me
Have I that touch unfelt to consider barely?

We all assume to have lived like someone
When even we ourselves barely grace the surface
What is it that we know... what have we become?
To be advising someone else for our dreams to chase

Can we just not think we know everything?
Why do we always think we know and pretend to know more?
Why and how does it mean from nothing?
Are we all living from someone else's advice before?

Can I say... perhaps far too many times I am swept
And my foundation isn't dated to belong
Simply... the world isn't to belong to anyone yet
Simply because... humanities are made to be gone
