As I sit here upon this full moon,
it is October not hot June.
The comets whiz by playing a happy tune,
they make me want to swoon.
The space between stars is not empty hooray,
it is filled with colors of blue and gray.
I love to watch by night and by day,
being filled with both the moon and sun spray.
I see this pretty space beltway,
the shinning diamond stars have much to say.
Each star has a roll to play,
out here in this pretty space buffet.

Edgar my dear
Why do you have that spear
Is that your plan?
When in a jam?
Scare the bloody Kansas City yellow and red
When they fight the fowl volture appearing dead
Spirit Haunting
Spirit Daunting
Blazing under the Baltimore sun
Until Poe's poetic message is done
No swift moves will be here
Only Chiefs carcasses holding their Daly beer

Granite hearted politicians
tossing our lives and minds
onto election year bonfires.
Flicking tongues- fanning blazes
veiling their throbbing lies
building dead end mazes.
"Fixing" problems of their own making...
slinging toxins without solutions
masking our voices with concoctions.
Forcing us to breathe in beltway pollution...
We the citizens turned into treadmill jesters
juggling dirty masks and happy pills
one swamp is drained while the other one fills...
Maggots writhing over star-spangled meat
do we untether the talon of revolution
no time to fall silent and retreat.
Maybe it's a time for reflection and prayer
to turn yet another rosy cheek...
Where are the Gandhis in our time of need
Where are the mother Teresas to cool the burning seed
What happened to our brave and selfless King?
Lift us up from this pit of self-pity and greed,
steer us gently onto the straight and narrow path
back into the golden hearted dream...at last.

Life’s Last Exit
By: Tom Wright
7/10/2006
A Doctor’s slap, and then my screams
Were bellowed at my first breath.
Since then I’ve traveled a road of dreams
Toward the exit ramp marked death;
But betwixt the two I chanced to travel
Both crooked beltway and the straight;
Seeming at times my life would unravel
As I searched for the exit at Heavens Gate;
As now my journeys end is nearing
I mirror backward to count life’s cost.
The distant sounds I hear of cheering
For a sheep is found that once was lost.

Dragon has a date
And wants to borrow the car;
Decked out in his tux,
A size three hundred deluxe.
Top down, he crashed on beltway!

Donald the First
(to the tune of Henry the eighth – if you like)
By Franklin Price
10/18/2018
I'm Donald the first I am
Donald the first I am I am
I was elected to the highest seat
Showed all the liberals they could be beat
And I'm the best one there ever was
The best one that you will ever see
Smarter than all in the beltway
Best president there ever will be
(No second verse- I think I've said it all...lol)

The Revving Roar of Rolling Thunder
Through the revving roar of Rolling Thunder,
amplifying along air and asphalt,
silent complacency’s cast asunder,
by the tour de force its riders exalt.
On roads and bridges, spectators await
the annual coast-to-coast migration
of Run For The Wall passing through their state
in tightly unified group formation.
Reflecting our country’s crossroads on chrome
the riders of Rolling Thunder emerge,
returning en mass to The Mall and Dome,
gathering strength as their chapters converge!
From Heartland to Beltway, we won’t forget
the debt we owe the American vet!

THE FLIPPING INVESTIGATION 2017
All politicians in the beltway show
what signs of times we put up with today,
obesity is in again, we know
and ev'ry politician thinks they're here to stay.
Our greed is yet determined, and well hid
and under ev'ry table there's a hand
while those left out bring threats to blow the lid
if they don't flip it all, as we have planned.
We'll press the charge if running out of time,
from usury to outright fraud and graft,
while common folk make jokes about our crime
but in the end it's we who've always laughed.
And though the swamp is drained, we know,
a world at war is where it all will go.

Inauguration's Coming Soon
By Franklin Price
1/3/2017
Inauguration's coming soon
A new leader sworn in
One who has made promises
To make us great again
The struggle has been long and hard
For the one the people sent
A political apprentice
Not your normal president
A billionaire of question
Who had so little chance
Came without an invitation
To the inauguration dance
Promised us to build a wall,
Defeat the ISIS threat,
Bring back jobs, once sent away,
Get the U.S. out of debt,
Be there for all citizens,
Not just the super rich,
Show Washington insiders,
That life can be a *****.
Reinstate the middle class,
The heartbeat of this land,
Bring programs to the cities' poor,
Wouldn't all of that be grand?
We the people, tired of cards,
Beltway politicians play,
Voted to play the Trump card,
On inauguration day
Please don't leave the table,
Let all players play their hands,
According to the Constitution,
That's what democracy demands.

It was the night before Christmas
And on this very calm night
Almost fell asleep in my squad car
When the radar unit did light
The speed was over 100
And it was climbing much higher
I radioed into dispatch
This speeder was a flyer.
Going south I told dispatch
We are going down the beltway
It was then that I noticed
I was chasing reindeer and sleigh
He finally pulled over
Back up set up a perimeter
Thinking back on it now
Should have considered his altimeter
We approached him and asked for
License, Registration, & Insurance
His credentials were valid
To this he assured us
We gave him a warning
for the excessive speed
he introduced us to the reindeer
to this no one would believe.
He said thank you to all
As he flew out of site.
Merry Christmas to All
And have a safe night.

Confused
By Franklin Price
11/5/2016
I'm really quite confused
About the chosen few
Who run our Federal Government
And the things they say and do
How they got there in the first place
How they climbed the ladder up
How they went with best intentions
Then found they could fill the cup
Could make more than their salary
If they responded to the pitch
Now that they were in the beltway
And were noticed by the rich
They are still elected
By the voters at the poll
Are supposed to be there for us
Instead of being on the dole
Supposed to be a public servant
Paid more than living wage
If found they're taking pay-offs
Should be put within a cage
There's a problem with that thinking
If we removed all of the crooks
Would be few left there in Washington
To put the laws within the books
Would be few left there to serve us
To pass along the people's say
Must be crazy here to say that
They don't do that anyway

I see them fighting like cats and dogs
but taking money like fatted hogs,
so while they spend and spend
we get screwed in the end...
Hail to the Washington demagogues!

Plastic clouds sherbet skies
meeting place of the stones.
You were too hard today
the way you sat there.
so I took a walk across the mind
of silly thoughts and memories.
A slither pinned in medulla,
a pinstriped boy pulled her.
The ocean drowned the Earth
as we watched the little ones
running for the backstage
forgetting all their lines.
I guess the beltway fades
as the cockroaches die.
We are the mind, only one;
a mind to mend the sky

Like the morning dawn friends are there.
To brighten that bitter night before.
When you’re lost at sea they help you ashore.
When you’re a pain in their ass.
They tell you what you need to hear.
And you know it is sincere.
When the worst of the worst crashes onto you.
And you feel alone in the cold and dark.
They are your bulwark.
When you are in trouble you know.
They will lend their hand.
And pull you clear of that wasteland.
When everyone else goes their own way.
Fleeing to the beltway.
That friend will stay.
Yours forever.
