Befogged Poems

Premium MemberDiscombobulated

My love for words creates mental pain-
when they race around in my befogged brain.
I sit here dreaming- pen held in my hand;
mind burning aglow with ideas so grand.
To be very frank, the two oft don't meet,
the paper stays blank- my head whirs in heat.

May go on for hours- these frenzied word games
in seeking a crack to set free the strains;
spinning and whirling for clear words to find-
metaphor, imagery- meter combined.

What comes to mind has been said before-
needed are words to unfold and restore
old themes of nature and love redefined;
God above, ourselves, the woes of mankind-
of life and death- of sad wars and true peace.
These variant themes need a new release!

Burst open, you seed! Expose yourself bare
so I can soon grasp the words to prepare-
and push forth a poem through this foggy light
to offer a gift from my mental plight!

When
jade Specks
of desire
carved a raven
calamitous shape
of coal-crescent,
losing the
last soil
once

My
lilac
heart of rouge
runes, shimmered in
galaxy, lathered
with embers of
laced life for
soul of
thou

I
float in
rose quartz haze
befogged upon
starlit symphony's
hymnal moondust,
strolling in
perfumed
'You'.

Around the Churchyard

Thrilled to the depths of my body and soul,
Time and wind had passed unseen,
Like an ice detached from a glacier,
It dwindled like a battered scream.

I'm befogged, benumbed and enfeebled,
An unalloyed ennui crept over me,
Leaving an eternity of silence to unnerve my marred frame,
My tongue inched for utterance.

Writhed in awe like a pariah lost in Antarctica,
Suddenly, I heard my name in a cautious whisper,
I stressed my eyes, neck and ears...
But all dilated with fear and pang.

My step seemed to pity the skulls it treaded beneath,
I must have been roaming around a churchyard,
Seeing many inscriptions on the tombs,
But didn't understand the essence of life.

Paddle Your Own Canoe

PADDLE YOUR OWN CANOE

Stand tall, raise high, blame not thy lot,
Tread path swift, find faults naught;
Decisions tough, impediments bountiful, solution yet to be taught,
On crossroads held, crisscross paths, life distraught!

Hold your ground yet firmly tread,
Not a cake walk though, life’s hostile instead;
Exhibit valour, let spirits soar overhead,
Vanquish hurdles, flaunt thy smile, joyous tranquility spread!

Befogged vision, life seems tangled,
Heartbroken defeated when dreams sometimes mangled;
With courage, steadfastness life no more wrangled,
Sing to the tunes of the chiming bells jangled!

Choicest blessings the Divine shall bestow,
If and only if you paddle your own canoe!

Smile If You Can

SMILE IF YOU CAN!

Entangled betwixt the web of life,
Whence facing a situation terrible;
Support all lost, roads all crossed,
Befogged vision, intent ambiguous;
Amidst the hassle, resistant struggle,
Attempt with a tranquil earnest persistence;
Overlook the distress; Smile if you can!

The inevitable confusion life presents,
Assessing the worth of an earthling’s presence;
Not solely one but inclusive of all,
Each one’s life’s brimful of strife;
Struck at some point with forces adverse,
Troubled to the core, agonized heart-broken;
Overlook the adversity; Smile if you can!

When confronting a rival, mighty, callous,
Retaliate not with revenge, provoke not thyself;
Instill thy benevolence in thy rival’s heart,
Bestow thy compassion, benign goodness;
Leave not thy stance, amenable, cordial,
To smile at an enemy is to disarm him;
Forgive thy enemy; Smile if you can!

Premium MemberMan Cannot Live By Dread Alone

There is a cruel desolation these days in death
No comfort in congregational crowds.
Fear crackles on every street corner
With wary social distancing  observed
On the wards,the lives of victims and carers
Held in healing and helpless hands
Too little gear to keep them safe
And shortage of drugs to palliate the pain.
Why the shortage of machines to let them breathe?
Beneath the hopeful promises of pestilential
Politicians bewildered by their ignorance
Over the insidious and devious virus
There is clearly panic,gnawing at their nerves
Bleak,apocalyptic end- of -days sensations
This darkness do shroud, our exit befogged
Flailing and hoping,failing and groping
Underlining starkly our human frailty
And turn our faces to the wall or God
Too many sacrificed to the pandemic shortages
Lives lost to lack of foresight and pecuniary policy
All lives under threat from the invisible Covid-19
 With so many lungs by its deadly threads deeply invaded.

Love's Stamp

I was once stamped
Stamped by love
In my body's skin
Where the barcode remained
But love escaped
Due to an unknown cause
Aimless I am
Stranded and befogged
Like a headless bird
Unable to find its nest
Peaceless
Tranquillity seems illusory.

The Passing Moments

I kindle a candle at every bend
as years of life I routinely spend.
It is in the haze of one such light
that I step as a man this passing night
with a vision fresh and emboldened.

The sands have trickled through
the hour-glass and new
perspective holds yonder
a promise befogged but true
in the endless fields of future

A clinquant brightness shines ahead
should I sing a dirge for the dead
years? Or rejoice for the lucre in the offing
and a mellifluous chanson I will sing

A lot I leave and more I seek
but its a tale of perfidy, and bleak
nature; to think of my loss and gain
and of the happy and youthful rain
that inspires noble thoughts within
as also the same nostalgic gloaming
that thaws my heart and stirs a pain
of soft-bedded dreams so lucent
that destiny has so cruelly hent
but then, I dream again!

Thus I leap forward, toward light
and what’s left behind, I never might
turn to gather, but in my doting hours
under a starlit, pensive night
wonder at those bygone stars.

Ode To Suzie

Your pulchritude rises from within you
And sits upon your beauty-coated skin,
Your aging does not thus reflect your wear
But instead draws the undying shine within.

My eyes befogged by your unblemished smile
Do not see the murk of the filthy world around
But ever scan the perfect sparkle of your eyes:
The jewel for which I prayed, the pearl that I found.

Despite the glamor and cheer of the partying crowds,
My memory dwells in the brief minutes of your golden tears -
The times when happiness your tender hands harshly eluded,
The times when your soul could not handle fate and its fears.

As the mauling of years deals your unfeeling skin a blow
I will be eager to see the marvels of this splendid amend
As the old rundown roses give way to the newer ones within,
As the worn-out glitter fades to unveil the new in the end.
