  separated by vows of abstinence but 
forever bonded by Light entwined 
two parallel Orders twinned
in material poverty firm endured 
with One Heart beating to  
missions of Love ordained 
in living Truth never adjourned 

vessels of opposite gender 
each frolicking happy dancing 
and singing as children of 
holy futures Assisi blessed 
two exceptional

I feel your pain
The world you left us, now

As patron 
Of our Eden land
Destruction here
At human hand

So Francis,
From your lofty view
Come teach us, Spirit

This blue jeweled orb
That we call home

I have often been accused of being one of those,
people who hates people but loves animals,
but none of that is really true at all.
I do like people, but in all honesty,
I enjoy myself more when people aren't around me,
and I do prefer domestic, feral or wild animal company.

Stepping out on a July afternoon,
hand up on forehead, squinting in the glare,
flick out the Ray-Bans, eyes become attuned,
descend the steps and stride across the square.

A Letter To Saint Francis of Assisi

Dear St. Francis,

In a recent dialogue with a close friend, I became aware during the conversation that I made a statement  that was misunderstood. I allowed it to remain that way, not pursuing a path of correction. The tone and subject matter was such that it was best to leave it  that way.
