He had Aspergers
Low functioning socially
Did age make him odd
Spoke in monotone
Constant annoying babble
This was nothing new
Disliked by many
Starting in kindergarten
Age did not change him
He never had friends
His name was Leeland Townsend
People ran from him
Jackie who was permanently stuck in the twos after
a childhood vaccine that was due..
Larry's addiction and prior crimes that led to his
affliction and wheel chair confine.
Bill who struggled with his c.p., only hoping that
others could see beyond his disability..
Joe whose institutional blows caused stuttering,
frustration and angry explodes..
Carol whose Asperger's left her obsessed compulsively
dialing strangers on her ex boyfriend quest..
George who got an inner thrill by chasing trash trucks
until they turned on the hill..
Phil who in public would stop and beg to touch the
calf of a woman's leg..
Barbara with her theatrical flare who craved full attention
every where..
Howard who lost his serenity when any change occured
in his vicinity..
James and his life long obsession with Marlboro lights
and fake wrestling..
Our society labels them developmentally delayed but
many were the best friends I've ever made..
Once I sat, engaged and adorning
All my soul, within me humbling
My beauty, I could not awaken
What could there be, more purely forsaken
Eagerly I looked for the greatness
Eagerly I looked for perfection
Instead I uncover the sublimity
There I see the optimity
Your pure soul shining forth
Suddenly I know your worth
In the flaws, thru the pain
Yet not once do you complain
Always forward, ever striving
Nothing will stop you from thriving
Much I marveled at your pure soul
As the world took it's toll
Your smile would slip and disappear
You would become more austere
As the world around you changes
Like a thunderstorm, it rages
Yet your Innocence remains
As if it is all prearranged
What label does my son have?
Asperges!! What Aspergers
means to me?
Awesome,
Shy
Polite
Energetic
Rewarding,
Gifted
Enlightening
Real
Smart
!! That is my son in a
nutshell he is one
Amazing,gifted,intelligiant
child.. And I Love him and
cherish him very much..
A puzzle piece you are to me
Like a vine without any leaves.
Your heart is pure your soul is
Gold, the sweetest thing I'll
ever hold! A miracle in my eyes
it seemed, knowing they said
no babies for me! Always a
surprise you seem to be just
like a puzzle piece! At 9 months
you walked but not until 4 did
you first talk! Always a terror
making a beautiful mess always
a surprise that has yet to be
met! The twists and turns I
know we will see will seem
somewhat like a roller coaster
to me! The milestones and
special gifts you bring will make
my life seem Like a dream, my
special boy I have always said
How special I knew not till
Aspergers they said! The
journey will be trying the
journey will seem long! But
with our family together we will
chug along! My special boy I
love you so and cannot wait to
see you mature and grow! Now
we have a goal we have our
dream you see to make you the
perfect fitting puzzle piece!!

McCullouch 04/05/2012 For
Jonathan S McCullouch Jr
Mommy loves you to eternity
and beyond! Forever and
always!
I see a loneliness in your eyes
and I don’t know what to do
I know you’d like to be different
but then you wouldn’t be you.
You just want to be the same
as your friend’s appear to be
but you need never feel alone
when you have a friend in me.
Sometimes when we’re together
I see the sunshine in your face
then something takes your mind
to a different and darker place.
Perhaps I say something wrong
or maybe it’s other things too
but if you talk to me, I will listen
and bring the sunlight back to you.
It’s not easy at eight years old
to have worries like you do
you feel different to all of us
but mostly we’re just like you.
So don’t you hide from your life
just live it the best you can do
and if I'm near, let my smile
find the happiness there in you.
