Premium MemberI Love Candy Mia

I crave sticky butter mint balls

Liquorice allsorts from the candy stalls
Orange smarties, my favourite treat
Violet crumbles I just love to eat
English toffees for me to masticate

Chocolate drops make me salivate
Aniseed balls would paint my tongue red
Nougat or should I choose fruit gums instead
Dime bars and snickers too much temptation
Yikes! my waistline spread’s caused aggravation!

Premium MemberSweet Memories

Nose pressed flat upto the glass,
Pockets tinkling full of brass;
Oblong jars,row on row
Candy -filled,to over flow.

Mintoes,chews and Pontefract cakes,
Limes and milk chocolate flakes;
Jelly beans and sweet love-hearts,
A few of each ,just to start.

Toffee whirls and butterscotch,
Long liquorice laces,all top-notch;
Aniseed balls,French bonbons,
Available now without coupons.

Sugared almonds and white mice,
Vanilla fudge,a penny a slice!
Just for starters a chocolate ice,
As it's going at half-price.

Barley sugar and a sherbert straw,
The shop bell tinkles as I close the door;
Is that the time! I'll have to skate,
Back into school,I can't be late.

On a Sweeter Note

I scored myself a ticket
for a trip down memory lane.
Time has surely passed
but the music's still the same.
Photographs and relics,
adorn unaltered tapestry
Yesteryears' reflections,
still displayed for all to see.

My ears a'buzzing with a charm,
heart's now filled with joyous glee.
Mesmerized right from the start
of that majestic melody.
Trumpets hum and guitars strum,
what a glorious symphony!
It takes me away, back to the days
of the way life used to be.

My sweet sweet surrender,
that heavenly-sent scent
Bollas and koeksisters as I remember;
both so decadent.
Their tempting aroma
fills the air
so lovely and so sweet
Coconut,cinnamon and aniseed,
still Cape Town's humbly gestured treat.

Like a Solitary Swan

Like a motionless swan beside the lake ,alone
under the cherry blossom , the silence of the moon , and waking leaves.
Far from the eyes that loved her , far from the hands that touched her
Far from the eager tenderness of his breathing breeze .
Far from secret whispers, Far from dark roast coffee beans with aniseed
Far from changing faces, far from vacant spaces,
far from cloying lips that turned so bitter-sweet.

Close to melancholic stars ,beneath passing clouds
Close to murky dusk ,acid rain and foggy shrouds
Solitary, She performs her last ballet , down the hill
The warmth of his bare spirit waltzing softly upon her skin.

Sweet Kid

The lemon drop child
looked at the world
through sherbet fountain eyes.
Her sour cherry lips
spouting black jack words,
whilst her mind was an
aniseed twist.

Her rhubarb and custard complexion
and curly wurly
liquorice hair
Belied her treacle toffee soul
No love heart there.

Wild Blackberries

The taste of wild blackberries on her lips,
And the grains of vanilla on her cheek,
The tingle of brambles brushed my eyes
When I kissed the velvet physique.

A tang on the tongue of aniseed
When shuddering gasped a torrid peak,
The taste of wild blackberries then once more
And vanilla on her cheek.

One Night In Greece

As the green-blue spread kissed horizon,
The sun died spilled on the rock,
So the crumbling salt-stained towers,
Of marble cracked rigid in shock.
Pointed fingers to clouds on Olympus,
To the old gods now centuries dead,
And their prayers and their desolate ceilings
Decayed as the heavens turned red.
The sweet juniper scents and then honey,
Flamed and bloomed dreams in the brain,
In the aniseed searing of midnight
I sat drunk at the bar once again...
