Allhallows Poems

Premium MemberAllhallows

Sometimes I’ll rouse, in darkest night, to a twilit form, bending over me, so closely we’re sharing the same still air. I never startle, I somehow know, even before I’m completely awake, that it’s not mortal.

This malevolent force stalks time worn halls like disease. It thrives on inertia and stress, it drinks in fatigue like a vampire devours blood and slowly chews on fragile-hopes until they’re desiccated and smell like rotten flesh.

This death like thing waits for each of us, in tedium, as danger hides in shadow - growling with sullen impatience to smother us.

It’s name is failure. Sometimes, I’m so afraid.

My black cat
Blessed with night's camouflage
A midnight prowler
On Allhallows Eve

Cold beauty
Statuesque
Silky movements
Ghoulish approach
Flash of stealth
As alley mice scatter
Battle zone of calisthenics
Fur flecked mayhem

Under a Halloween moon, cloud blurred, quietly grinning

Rodent, lifeless
At my doorstep (like Fed Ex)

"Mission accomplished"
          ghostly meows
          to summon my appearance
          (interrupting my lurch to TV horror
           brain freeze fuzzy)

Silent treat - a witching night token
Shovel the corpse to garden peace
A small underworld
         plot of bones for mice gone missing
         spirits unraveling
         under a moon over stuffed with corpses

My black cat
Street savvy
In a Halloween hunt
          always lethal
          her rag-tag, midnight prowl
          in bits and bites
                             of gore

Pudgy Pumpkins glow round and orange bright
On Allhallows Eve star filled moonlit night
Bold Black Cats yowl with a canorous chorus
While children's joy explodes wide eyed before us

Taboo

It's Allhallows Eve; and my alter ego makes me insane,
    Tonight; the Devil incites me to kill once again.
    Lurking in shadows, cloaked in darkness i reign,
    In unlit back alleys, bleak foreboding terrain.,
    Enraptured as death lingers on, in physical pain,
    Wild frenzied struggles, and stifled screams are in vain.
    As my razor sharp knife quickly severs, each carotid vein,
    Spraying fresh blood feeds my lust, it's the mark of Cain.
    Without absolution, the Devil's slave i remain,
     While the Grim Reaper tempts souls, of innocents slain.

Premium MemberAllhallows - Most Dreaded Night

Hungry black bats pour from a dim dismal cave
flying about under a lucid full moon;
near old chiseled tombstones of each sealed sod grave
in search of small tricksters that will be out soon.

Against clear ebony sky silhouettes loom
on this eerie fall eve of dank darkened doom;

Allhallows, the scariest- most dreaded night
when toothy vampires emerge and take to flight.

		***
Early graves part open and goblins spill out
roaming vast country side looking for a thrill;
with rusty long chains that they must drag about
on Halloween night, rendering the spine to chill.

Behind leafless lofty foliage vile ghouls lurk
snatching up simple lopers out of the murk;

come venture out on Allhallows if you must
but obtain a live best friend that you can trust…

Premium MemberLet Me Out On Halloween

Give me a bucket, paint me green
let me go out on Halloween.
Hand me a light so I can see,
to scare someone other than me.

This is the night I waited for
just turn me loose and lock the door.
I plan to holler, stomp, and roar,
tonight won’t be a total bore.

Moon is ready to cast shadows,
this dreary eve of Allhallows.
My Friends are waiting in the dark,
hastily wait me to embark.

Screams will echo this darkest night,
the sound of terror and delight.
With moans and growls all around
that make an eerie, creepy sound.

Though I am senile let me be
I want to wail so set me free.
Remove my covers, let me out
allow me to run, scream, and shout.

Give me a bucket, paint me green
let me go out on Halloween.
Hand me a light so I can see,
to scare someone other than me.

Premium MemberHalloween Night

silhouette visage
scare awake the silent dead
on Allhallows eve

weird sounds penetrate
wildly woods so dark and deep
making one cower

a cold eerie chill
overtakes a breathless evening
waking dead spirits

fears manifest great
sullenness apprehensions
scaring one to death

little children lurk
the streets full of kindly houses
with fun faces that awe

Premium MemberOctober's Painted Leaves

Heaven’s landscape emerges
radiating the evening firmament;
splashing a colorful face.
A twilight atmosphere lingers
a fresh lull to the season.
Crisp fragrances enhanced
with dew;
cleanse arid land awaiting
a chilling dusk.

Hilltops lavished with evergreen
and spattered with oak;
adhere to October’s painted
leaves…
as autumn births.
Pumpkin orange with crimson
red lie lifeless on earth floor;
mounding in heaps of hue
in an elaborate display.

Lanterns with little feet
travel through somber stillness;
hoping for a treat of sweets.
Allhallows Eve embraces
October’s painted leaves…
with applause.
Hiding goblins, witches, and
headless horsemen in its wake.
