Where are we all going
his daily appeal
it’s not really knowing
the pace and uncertainty
that has him agog
we’re moving so fast
bubbling and roiling in a tumultuous fog
with ubiquitous gadget at rest in his palms
keyboard and thumbs ready to play
thumbs adroitly evolved
to deliver whatever it is he chooses to say
information and knowledge with no limit abound
opinions and egos both delicate and brash
new things to offend every day being found
labels and pronouns more important than air
it can no longer be called as it’s always been seen
referring to someone by gender or size
now admonished as being disrespectful and mean
with all of this change awash in his head
his thumbs are on pause, ready to send
all he wants is a “delivered to home” take-away meal
but is profoundly concerned that “short” crust will offend.

Immaculate perception
its vision so pure
Beyond all deception
adroitly demurred
A birth without legacy
an orphan unnamed
Judgment abandoned
—redemption proclaimed

The van jolts its way into our street.
She hops about in her animated cage
from dashboard to counter
adroitly cardsharping the world.
To her is given a great dispensing,
deftly she sorts
the trivial from the eventful,
flicks the lid of our mail boxes
as dire epistles are bundled with the trite
and the slight.
Each mail box now bears witness
that we are important enough to be persuaded,
pursued and pestered.
for she sorts and sends
and we wait expectantly to discover
if we are recorded within a printed letter,
then wave as the little van chugs away
on its rubber tread.
even though those white envelopes
may hint of trouble ahead.

We look outward, here upon earth
Ego anchored, devoid of mirth
Fleeting joy that’s mirrored by pain
Bound head to foot by desire’s chain
Caught in a web, our heart did weave
Time’s now that we cease to so grieve
Conscience showing us path correct
That love aligned, we stand erect
Before each act, let’s take a pause
Discern if lower mind the cause
Mindful eye, thus always aware
Adroitly sidesteps ego snare
In timeless time, heart becomes pure
Resolve firm, each test we endure
Our consciousness, witness presence
Aligned with God’s omnipresence
Attention posed in cessation
Tranquil calm, our meditation
Magnetic currents pervade form
Invaded by benign bliss storm
Captivated by a love mist
We surrender; do not resist
Ceasing to size, we vaporise
In as ordained, God realise

Nimble desires inimical
Conscience sounds a warning alarm
Free will adroitly pulse disarms
Nestled in bliss ineffable
Discord within and all around
Soul presence within body sighs
Our heart sinks, fallen from erst highs
Fierce winds abound, wherein soul bound
Wherefrom springs feral thoughts shoddy
Causation of hearts contraction
Clear light dawns in meditation
Knowing we are not mind-body
Delusion blocks spherical sight
Thus we indulge in narrowness
Failing to recognise oneness
This bondage is cause of our plight
Judgmental eye labels others
Respecting not each soul journey
Making merry, cease to worry
Embracing each, as our brother
Fleeting joy and pain will not last
Nurture tenderly, loving soul
Renounce wearisome ego goals
Ascension assured; die is cast
In, not within, life in motion
Ceasing to size, we vaporise
Pure heart, receptive to surprise
Each life breath, a celebration
Oh hermit, we are in a dream
Be still, in quiet surrender
Behold Gods delightful wonders
Enjoy the movie, as it streams

Alone at four this silence my amazing ally
The quiet is astoundingly amplified
One person always awakes adroitly
Once again annoys, but I aspire to align
One accolade accomplished; I didn't scream
I can only be accessible if
Alone again adjust my thoughts to God

He was late to school as usual
therefore punished
because he daily fed the street dog
who was famished
Member of Alcoholics Anonymous
neighbours sneered at his confessions
although his hip flask was empty
his mission offering hope and inspiration
Frequent cash withdrawals
viewed with suspicion by his wife
whilst he performed small miracles
assisting the needy to rebuild their life
Division of family property
he settled by a wager
manoeuvring adroitly
that his own share be smaller
The void holds all secrets
in a non-judgmental stance
divine love arms open in embrace
in vibrant joyful innocence

The slow route, no shortcuts please
Delusion removal one step at a time
As layer by layer we gently unfreeze
To entwine with divine love sublime
Picking up any aberration, say desire
We struggle not, simply change direction
Turning inwards divine ignition afire
We imbibe & assimilate blissful elation
Or flipping desire, we encounter fear
Rooted in ephemerality, a mere illusion
Turning within we draw divine love near
Rapturous bliss renewing its ignition
We hurry not, pausing to smell the roses
The journey more beautiful than imagination
Adroitly sidestepping ego’s alluring poses
In tune with Ohm in an unending continuation

They wanted the best for their children,
hovering through the toddler years,
giving them what they wanted,
giving more to avoid any tears.
When their kids became teens, they wanted fame,
building an image for their now empty life,
devoid of moral direction and sense of duty,
leading to personal crises and strife.
The university published standards,
too high so they decided to cheat.
They paid a fixer to get their child in,
using money as a bribe to be discreet.
But the scam was discovered, made public
and the greedy parents, now distressed,
listened to lawyers and admitted wrongdoing
and standing before cameras, adroitly confessed.
I'm sad for the children of these parents,
underachievers and misguided, for sure.
Unprepared for an independent future,
with no inner peace and morally immature.

The garrulous, Greek grape gatherers,
Joined joyously with jocund japes,
The olive pickers and Ostrich plucker’s,
Celebrating the seasons success in song.
The querulous quiver of musical quavers,
From a quorum of quality wine quaffer’s
Reverberated robustly round the room,
And resonated rhythmically from the roofs rafters.
An altercation arose amongst some aggressive Athenians,
Averting an armed argument was avoided adroitly,
By brave, bold buskers, brusquely berating their bombast,
And loudly and laudably lamenting such Loutish leanings.
Personally I drank my Retsina and went back to my Hotel,

Old heads know more,
but can't explore anymore.
Justly, they exploit experience,
adroitly squishing creativity.
Too old to play,
with naivety.

Straddling is safe with grips each side secure,
but progress requires the flip flop position,
secured on one side or the other, not looking down or back.
It’s iffy to lift a foot implanted
with footholds secure in straddled camps.
To poise precarious with return annulled
to go binary with uncertainties, with flip or flop.
It’s yeah or neigh, not betwixt nor between,
for or against, not poised procrastinating
nor straddling serendipitous with free fall.
Like a climber, securing three firm grips before
letting one grip go, and reaching up for next handhold.
This keeps ambivalence under control,
stepping adroitly and securely,
without looking back or down,
making assertive progress one step at a time
on a three-legged stool.

However it goes, nobody knows
Whatever your belief
You as you are, and those afar
Through centuries of toil and grief
Hardships they solved, as they evolved
Bring us to date and time
The past is the past, today won't last
Opportunities pushed to the side
With flag unfurled, in a perfect world
Equality and freedom are one
With sword and shield, privileges yield
Then both become undone
Color or race, religion and mates
Must fight for what's legally theirs
Riches and waste, power and taste
Blindly turn from despair
Bitter and charred, Solutions come hard
Ignorance and greed are withstanding
Social issues, adroitly abused
Are solved with understanding

And so, what will we do with what the nimble heart hath woven, fantasies that can never be, however adroitly constructed. Indeed, what shall become of those sad tapestries of intricate detail? Shall we hang them upon honored walls of memory? Or shall they be folded as treasured keepsakes, away from the curious and condemning eyes of those who lack the passion to understand. Did we want to display them? Or would it have been better if the threaded pain were sealed away, evidenced only by a memory. But does it really matter? The woven texture was imperfect at best. It was proven flawed and foolish from the beginning. And, if we wished to save them, it may be for a lie we needed to tell ourselves. Hang them, or do not. They matter little now; they never really mattered at all.

Table for One
Striding adroitly through the garbled air
Never more debonair and dapper
Drawing the attentions of the curious
Aloof, detached, distinguished
One impulse shy of normalcy
Again without accompaniment, as his own escort
Too honest, too eccentric to play the dating games
Oblivious to the stares and murmurs of the fickle crowd
Destined for another date disaster
Onward into the din of the chattering herd
Keeping a safe distance from himself
No time for amenities, no chance of flirtations or temptations
No corsage to balance the embittered interiors
Wiser in resolve, from vows taken to never again feel
Impervious to the possibility of romance
Undaunted and indifferent,
Masterfully hiding the damage within
Knowing too well the ravages of love gone bad
Never again to experience the horrors of rejection
How many in your party, sir?
One, just one........
Very well, sir. This way..........
Table, table for one..........
