Winter's Fragile Hold
Spring suddenly transforms the snow,
as frigid days begin to warm.
And water and ice meld to sculpt
Queen Anne's lace in crystalline form.
Hanging from snowy roofs and eaves,
icicles sparkle like wet glass.
And melt into liquid rainbows,
when glistening droplets amass.
Nature beautifies the landscape,
dabbing patches of green on white.
And despite the snow, daffodils
sprout within Spring's nurturing light.
As honking geese reclaim the skies,
returning birds defy the cold.
And start migrating North to breed,
contesting Winter's fragile hold.
