Winter Magic ~8~12 Lines Of Rhyme Poetry Contest.

Sponsored By Tania Kitchin

Written On January 14th 2024.

My daughters rushed into our bedroom and jumped onto our bed Shouting "Dad get up it's snowing, please get out our sled" I came to and rose from my bed and then I looked outside And to be perfectly honest, I'd rather have sat by the fireside. Well kids rule, and I had to venture out and get out their sled But I was a bit miffed that my wife, had decided to stay in bed We all dressed up with thick woollen layers from head to toe And then we ventured out into a winter wonderland of snow. It was like a scene from a Christmas card, but with real snow We all climbed onto the sled and down the steep hill we did go My daughters were loving it and were all shouting with glee And I thought nothing like snow to bring out the kid in me.

Strange that something will always trigger the child in , for me its colours, crayola crayons are chicken feed when it comes to my choices in my home and my dress code. Hope you and the family are all well. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

O how I once loved snow… I think it was around 1965. I still love it… if I’m in and it’s out. Trouble is, my drive is a hundred and fifty metres long and rises through about 15 metres (possibly more) so snow means I’m going nowhere. Enjoyed your poem, though, so I’m not a complete Grinch;-)

Thank you very much Terry, I love to see it, working for Royal Mail I was out in all kinds of weather. Haven't had a bad winter for years now in Worcestershire. A few frosts and a bit of sleet is all we seem to get, I remember the winters of long ago, two foot deep was the norm. Now retired though it's nice to watch it from inside, glass of whiskey in hand lol. Hope you're keeping well. Tom

The excitement of thick snow and going sledging down those steep Pennine streets. And roping sledges together to form a long toboggan and reach reckless speeds. Lovely memories. Best wishes. Tony.

such a delightful poem...and what wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing these moments with us here on PS. Hope you're staying warm in the UK...not so much so here in Texas... can you believe it! -5 degrees and only 13 degrees during the daytime for the next couple of days...no snow and no ice, though. Enjoy your evening, Sara

Thank you very much David, I remember years ago winters were quite spectacular with snow lasting for weeks, I remember the winter of'63, it lasted for about 3 weeks. Nearly brought the country to a standstill. Tom
