Winds of Change

Suddenly the wind whirled and came along Bringing shocking change, instead of a song Bad news arrived of a heartbreaking death So hard to believe, as it took my breath First phase of grief has taken over me Shock has prevented tears I cannot see Again, the question ‘why’ consumes my mind Good people taken, no answers to find Last words said to me still do remain I know one day, tears will fall like rain I hurt from the loss and reminders too Of all tragic deaths that I've been through But, I know you are watching from up high So, I will continue in light, to fly Heidi Sands 11/16/20 Placed 3rd in the Winds of change sonnet poetry contest.

This morning I had the thought that so many poets write about soaring through the sky when they could be snorkelling or diving in the sea enjoying the peace and beauty of the underworld. Life also ends instantly there and currents remove the evidence. Tomorrow is another day! Aloha! Rico
