The breeze annoying trees entices me, I drift away afar to fields abloom, with silver tongues untied their whispers free — ..ah, prairie-weed does burn a sweet perfume. The flowered spikes do strike a reminisce, the musky scent upon each purple spear… your kiss, our bliss… you I miss… you I miss — I fall upon each heady spear, despite the golden air. The gilt-edged frills and thrills of summer days — that flutter! The guilt-wedged sway and suede of lusty meadow sage… The jilted sun, once young, still shines above the haze — that clutter… an unfledged page from when we came of age. I linger lone and lost—and loathe the lure of wind, as fuzzy leaves flaunt drizzle beads beneath the clouds chagrined.

I have a poetry page on Instagram with over 12.5 thousand followers, but never have I ever come across a poet who weaves words like you do and with such natural ease.. you were born to write poetry... I like your modern sonnet, shakespeare is dead, why should we write old style, right? The choice of words and the format of it really caught my eye and the rhymes are great as usual... you are a master poet!

Ah this is so evocative and heart touching, written in such a poignantly moving manner truly: i especially felt the lines where youve written “ the musky scent upon each spear , i miss” what a poetic way to express such deep emotions, it has also a lyrical flow. I can't believe I missed your POTD, and a Sonnet (my favorite) at that. Belated congratulations, Susan. I like your thoughts on modern sonnets. I call mine Bakerian Sonnets :-) ... 14 lines AA, BB etc. 3 verse of 4 lines + a couplet or 4 verses of 3 lines and a couplet. That's how most of mine are written. I do write them in formal form from time to time. I enjoyed yours with all the fine imagery. Enjoy your day of recognition. Bill

Though the mind of the speaker wanders into some lost land now eagerly yearned, the atmosphere he/she is in is exotic... with a gentle breeze on the trees and musky scent in the air.
