Why Her Mother Cries
She weeps softly for a long lost love
who she tries her best not to think of;
Her summer of joy proved to be so costly -
For a long lost love, she weeps softly.
He simply disappeared without a goodbye;
She hadn’t yet told him of what grew inside.
By a single parent their daughter was reared;
Without a goodbye, he simply disappeared.
She wakes to a reminder of their unbridled lust,
in the face of their daughter who is in her trust.
Buried deep in regret you can often find her;
Of their unbridled lust, she wakes to a reminder.
The daughter now knows why her mother cries;
Why emptiness was always in her eyes.
For a ghost who hovers where a past wind blows -
Why her mother cries, the daughter now knows.
