Which Hill Will You Climb

If your choice is to climb the higher hill You’ll need more supplies and a stronger will For as you climb supplies will diminish And some will be needed when you finish If you’re looking for fun and a small thrill You’ll find it better to choose a small hill Choose one you can top in just a short span With several trails up you won’t need a plan Remember to stop if you need a rest It isn’t a race and sure not a test Also remember to take you a snack Or you will get hungry when you start back For those that went higher you paid your due You topped the high hill you get the best view

Hi Bill, The thing is topping the higher hill, you feel you can go higher still, until you perhaps try Everest, then many feel they have done their best. Our doctor whom we had for 25 years was a very slight man, we were amazed he accomplished this feat, sadly all his loving patients lost him to alzheimer's disease three years ago. I enjoyed this poem a great deal, well penned my friend, hugs blessings Jennifer.

Sorry for humanities loss of your friend; we need more like him. I've had several friends and family members that have experienced Alzheimer's. It is hard to be close to those that have to deal with the life they have when they are still alive. Hugs, Bill

Thanks, Caren. I sometimes have little things slip into my poems. In writing it's for humoral relief, had thought about it much, but probably in poetry as well. Hope everything is going well with you, Bill

Well said, Bill. Being a person to see the view, I have topped the hill or mountain, but with a ride to see the view. Just stunning.

What a wonderful and insightful sonnet Bill. Great instructions for a life reaching for a higher mountain. I love your your simple statements of compassion "stop if you need a rest," "take a snack" - what a great understanding of the climb up a steep hill. Your words have encouraged and inspired me today. Thank you for the unexpected gift. Sending you blessings!

I remember hearing once: "There are 2 ways to climb a mountain. One is taking the tram to the top. The other is hiking up the mountain, scraping and crawling one's way to the top. Either way you arrive thinking the view will be the same. But the view's not the same at all.
