When I Was Young

When I was young, I was so very sweet. I never tattle-taled or smarted off. I shared with others when I got a treat, and at my sisters I would never scoff. I loved to help my mother, so I did the many chores she gave me happily. I was so neat that always I got rid of junk I knew Mom wouldn't want to see. I loved to go to church, and Bible school was something I enjoyed every Sunday. I saved my money and did not amass collections, for I gave my things away! But seriously, I won't lie to you. Not very much of this is even true! Written Jan. 25, 2017 for the "But Seriously" Contest of John Lawless

I like the conversational tone of this poem. It's raw in its presentation and that's a good thing.

I like the sense of humor with which you bring at the end. While reading the perfect girl story I was thinking ..But seriously! As always marvelous. Congrats on your win! :)

Haha! I bet ALL of it's true. You're too sweet to have ever been bad, even as a kid. Awesome work. Congrats!

This sound like something a mother or grandparent would hand down to generation after generation, Louis.

Spoof is right, that is about the helping Mom with the chores, I remember it much differently. The other things though, pretty much true,

Sis I meant that you were everything that you said in the poem except the helping clean with Mom. That's the only spoof I could see. You were the kindest sister ever, you never put me down or made me feel anything but great. You were and are a great sis.

I hope you mean "true" in the sense that I lied about them. But you know what? I don't really recall ever scoffing at you or the other sisters! I actually was a really good sister except for a little bit of tattletaling, wasn't I after all!!

I've been had, by the Do-Dad. Lol Very funny. I'll bet all of it's true. You just don't seem the type to even know what bad means:)
