Timeless Waves
I looked in the mirror
Nothing much to see
I held a serrated knife close to my thoughts
I cut double crosses on my breasts
Blood dripped like raindrops
On the floor of dead hopes
The crusaders believed
I cut all strings to history
What more could one do?
I wasn’t sure
I looked like a red Buddha
Fat and disgusting with time, yet
Silent and at peace
For the sadness pervades me
Invades me
Soaks my blood
Controls my veins
Drips lifeless and makes me insane
I have nothing worthy to offer
Except a maim of hair
And a lifetime of despair
I cut right and left
Up and down
To be as scared as you
Insidious memories were long ago
Now I whisper
Do you yet not know?
We dance in shadows
We wash our souls in the rain
We glance in the mist
Of the twilight moments in time
Fantasies that hold us both tight
Boats in the sea
Floating nowhere
Emptiness you see
The waves now and then
Make them clash and bang
They are bothered both
By the opportunity of the rain
Winds sing of love
The clouds paint the whimsical embrace
Will two fools learn?
To love instead of fear the seas
Tides that were meant to be
The ebb and flow
Of rowing to and fro
Belonging to no one
Belonging nowhere
Where most hoist the anchor
And chase the freedoms sails
I wish you were my anchor
And I your shining knight
By the sea
I dream
Of what was never to be
