chool Shootings Have Already Killed Dozens in 2018
These are the days that test the heart
when those tightly shut doors open,
revealing treasures once hard sought
with its pleasures gone, unspoken.
These are the days that tempt the faith
in a violent angry voice
and suddenly a life's at stake
with no privilege of a choice.
These are the days that see death’s reign
unexpectedly anyplace,
while parent’s eyes bleed tears of pain
for a traumatized living race.
These are the days of stolen joy
in a second’s sudden laughter
most pleasing of all human noise
as sorrowful sighs come after.
