The Unsupervised Stop Sign

There was a time, when the sun was our guiding light, amidst clouds of twilight that paint our skylines bright. There were no misleading traffic signals, halting our ride into the mysterious nights. A shimmering candle was the spark of truth within- reflecting intuitions that guide through confusions. Life was then a simple highway with fewer obstacles, yet in our ignorance we refuse to see— we've long followed flawed stars dressed in glowing moonrise. I ponder, when will rain wash away hazy riddles? as my heart is hollow and I feel empty, like a lost gypsy on the sidewalk of a nameless street, wrapped in a blanket of hope, longing for empathy over a cup of poetry. Maybe there's still a secure path for the ones that wander, to steer without looking sideways for toxic trespassers, lurking in curved corners behind unsupervised stop signs, flickering amidst double lies of deceptive lines.

A FAV for my collections of your poetry, life-lifting light for us to read and reread to a point of understanding. The flowing words of your golden pen are addictive to a searching heart, as mine. An excellent example of Free Verse poetry, Ink Empress. The world has darkened as light of Love flicker awaiting the energy to expose the evil cancer of lies and deception we wade through day after day. We must keep our eyes on the Light, that the Way may be clear. Love, Light and Laughter. Bill

Dearest Inky, once again you have written a metaphoric delight taking the theme past its simple, face value interpretation. Your second stanza is pure, poetic brilliance with amazing, unique and fresh imagery as only you can write I am simply in awe of your marvelous, poetic ability to express complex feelings, scenes and nature in such eloquent finesse. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings for you! What a joy it is to "wallow," in the best sense of the word, in the beauty of your words.

What I’m being nostalgic about is a time when life was simpler and more genuine, free from toxic influences that are the filters that guide us. We seem to have lost the distinction of inner intuition (shimmering candles). We seek meaning in a now very complex world. Those toxic influences have left us on a path where we make misguided choices (flawed stars dressed in glowing moonrise). My plea is for clarity and a longing for real connection and heartfelt empathy and when that is found, we will find a secure path and hope, not guided by deception and those toxic influences.

I love your take on the 'unsupervised stop sign.' Your words were eloquent and flowed beautifully....I long for simpler times with less obstacles, less riddles to ponder, less toxicity. I liked the like 'like a lost gypsy on the sidewalk of a nameless street.' What a powerful, evocative image. Your insights are deep, soulful, and beautiful like you. I will be faving this one. Have a splendid Tuesday, dear Ink. I value you and your poetic voice, Sara

Things have changed much from that of the past. In earlier times even a small candle could direct our way. But in a world of deception, nothing can guide us properly. There were no misleading traffic signals. There were fewer obstacles too ! This is a brilliant poem...."....I feel empty, like a lost gypsy on the sidewalk of a nameless street, wrapped in a blanket of hope, longing for empathy over a cup of poetry.". How powerful are your lines. On reading your poem, we feel rejuvenated as if by a cup of steaming coffee on a chilly winter evening. Btw....I won't be able to read or comment on your poems as I will be away on a tour for a few days.

Wow, your poetry is quite sophisticated. There's a need here, and it resonates with your own wish for honesty rather than deception. Every feeling you express might be seen as a "stop" hint. Fantastic, poetic syntax conveys your inventive concepts. Amazingly stunning in terms of its overall design. You paint vivid mental pictures and convey heartfelt sentiments. Dear Ink, you have written a very profound poem. Best of luck in the contest!

- Obstacles, lies and betrayal have replaced what used to be real and true - feelings that you have no control over, and more or less a chronic anxiety - An excellent deep poem, Ink - Best wishes in the contest :) - hugs

I sense a yearning here and I resonate with the desire for simplicity rather than duplicity. This is a beautiful line "flawed stars dressed in glowing moonrise" amongst so many others, including the nearly hopeful "Maybe there's still a secure path for the ones that wander".. as poets we wander and capture a collection of wordy thoughts to inspire and reveal the human heart. Lovely, very soulful and lovely Ink :)

“Flickering amidst double lies of deceptive lines” —omg, I’m reeling in that line! The artistry and brilliance of that line leaves such a profoundly unforgettable feel! As always, your poetry is truly mesmeric and speaks volumes, my beautiful soul sis!

Ahhh..there are so many lines here I’m dying for! How do you write like this?? “There was a time, when the sun was out guiding light” “skylines”!! I resonate so deeply in that line and using skylines, I’m in such awe!! “Reflecting intuitions that guide through confusions” “like a lost gypsy on the sidewalk of nameless streets” —how does your mind think up such brilliant lines? “Toxic trespassers”! “Lurking in curved corners behind unsupervised stop signs” and the ending so powerfully poignant!
