The Sunset Purple
at the end of a perfect day
I was rushing home
oh, so much to do and so little time
from the bus window
I watched the sun setting
such beauty
brought tears to my eyes
all the purples and mauve mingling
swirling together so perfectly like a painting
an artist holding his brush and thinking
then placing a touch here and there
in time . . .
all the way home I watched
and even when I left the bus
I was mesmerized
as the purples became darker and darker
and at last in an instant
there was darkness
I felt uplifted and beautiful too
