at the side of the street Suzanne's blood soaked the new fallen pristine snow mother was screaming . . . . frozen- went into a silent world a place safe and peaceful dreamy comfortable saw things of beauty and let no one in heard but did not respond grandma gave up an attic room high in the house and there in silence with dolls and old clothes and jewelry made up stories saw the seasons changing from an oval window spring unfolding, summer flowers, rain falling snow cascading down wrote stories how long was this silent dream days, years, perhaps minutes, a moment but I was a child wrapped in a black coat of silent comfort ____________________ December 12, 2018 Poetry/Free Verse/The Silent Days of My Youth Copyright Protected, ID 18-1094-111-01 All Rights Reserved. A compelling poem, Dear Heart. It seems she took some comfort when visiting the attic room grandma used to store toys and other things. But it's still sad that any child would be frozen into silence this way. A heartfelt and beautiful poem! Hugs, Carolyn

Sun, thanks for visiting my poem and commenting, appreciate. There are parts of my youth very dark and it is only in poetry that I can go back there ~
