The Scream - Edvard Munch
Poem inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream and the insanity he feared during his life.
Once upon unlived life of pain
Where screams held in or did abate
Feared I would lose my grip on sane
In twisted tangled tale of fate
Lurking demons I did await
Weight of knowledge a constant bane
Living blighted by panicked state
Once upon unlived life of pain
Was it my will to start this chain
Disposition I did create
Fight against path, refuse, refrain
Where screams held in or did abate
My thoughts punished and did dictate
Can't control, too hard to sustain
The anguish feels just so innate
Feared I would lose my grip on sane
No normal I can entertain
Insanity you captivate
Trap me in ways so inhumane
In twisted tangled tale of fate
Calibrate to self agitate
Monstrous ending can pre ordain
Just please be swift, annihilate
Dread blinds, perchance I live again
Once upon unlived
