Notes About The Poem

Dedicated to my friend Darren White, a leader, and someone who inspires me!

The Man In the Wheelchair

He comes rolling around
I hear the wheels, I know the sound
Everyone clears out of the way
Except me, I stand my ground
 	With a smile and stay

We talk and laugh and debate all day
Drinkin coffees and sometimes cafe laities
Now people look and see him there
I see only a friend who loves and cares

Autistic they say, yet I am blind
I see only a man who is strong and kind
Now I may be a fool, but that's ok
With a friend as that, I got lots to say

I tell him this and I tell him that
He tells me stories, and that's a fact
Now I may not be the most patient man
Yet he, is one who somehow understands

As violins play he dances and sways
Dreaming of times where enfants joued
Knowing the world has its cruel days
He kept his smile, through spring to may
In life's sorrows, we both sit in silence

As times keeps moving and slips away

Sorry my friend, that I previously missed this great poem and its well deserved POTD AWARD. I can relate a bit about the being immobile, as once in my youth, I spent a long time walking on crutches due to a motorcycle accident. A truly fine tribute and revelation of the great character you have my friend. A fav..

A beautiful tribute Arthur! Congratulations on having it honored as POTD! I can relate. I spent six months in a wheelchair and it really limits your mobility. I feel for anyone spending their days in one. : )

I love this - It could even apply to people who are "different" tho not wheelchair bound. The picture itself is inspiring, but your poetry, Wow! Congratulations.

Arthur, I have a lot of friends in wheelchairs, and all I see is the person. Which is the way it is suppose to be. This is a great poem. I would rate this poem a double 9. Have a nice day my friend.

Wonderful poem! I had to sit in a wheelchair for a half year after an accident and your poems bring memories of great and loving people helping me in my time of need.

This is a very nice look at what lies deep inside a human's heart. A poem that shows very well your compassion, Arthur, and what an amazing picture to go with it.
