The Fate of Innocence

If innocence is as observed by me, A carefree behavior is all we see. In Its presence we know not, right from wrong, And we will soon learn, and it won’t take long. In youth it appears when we’re having fun. Innocence has faces, there’s more than one. We see the changes as we run and play. Living life changes us, day after day. Our innocence changes as we mature, Both joys and sorrows we’ve learned to endure. First a child crawls, before walking the floor. We grow through innocence, then it’s no more. Innocence is changing, there’s no debate, The passing of innocence is its fate.

Good Morning Bill. Hi. Yes, the innocence of infancy and youth. Thus why children are so precious. We adults can learn so much from their eyes and their world too. Have a wonderful morning and day. Your message here has meaning. Blessings now and always. (smile)

A baby's smile and energy always excite me. To see them building their little muscles kicking and reaching brings me joy. Talking to the children around our neighborhood is always a pleasure. Seeing the excitement and hope they have is encouraging. All my family are far away, so it's just Sara and I and my poetry soup friends to keep me going. Love, Bill

So true, Bill. You hit the nail on its head. Pity we can never recapture the joys of our youth. Blessings.

So, true ... memories are better than the real thing, because we filter out the things that we didn't like (at least the good memories) LOL Thanks for the visit, Victor. Have a great week, my friend. Bill

wow, Bill! A great sonnet that compares innocence to a child crawling then beginning to walk. Without knowing it, our innocence disappears through our growth and maturation. Making this a fav. Job well done, hugs, Me
