The Equation of Relation
I choose to love,
And not hurt anyone,
And what I get right back,
Around and within and about,
Is pleasantness and affection,
When love sometimes sparks.
The quiet reassurance,
That timely relativity,
That cheerful greeting,
The courteous sidestep.
That feeling in someone’s eyes,
The sentiment shown,
Where endearment and liking,
Are not unknown.
Realising that equations are numerical,
And that numbers are real by locations,
Enthuses me to continue and to find,
The equation of friends and connections,
The university that equates with socialism,
The news channel which makes shocking equations,
The taxi-man who is a number to himself,
The supermarket that does its financial sums,
The supervisor who relates warmly and firmly,
And that lover who equates with me.
Life is not a problem,
Because I chose life,
And every day life chooses me,
When it returns much good,
Without being fully understood.
