The Desert

Seeing a hawk diving, a jackrabbit running from deadly shadow – I am reminded that, the desert is no place for casual, pointless strolls~ the cactus a still sentinel only for its barbs. A near rattle tells me, beat-it!

Hi Michelle; yes, that's where I am, in Phoenix. I use to horseback, hike the desert a lot. Was bar-back at Reata Pass, and hung out at Greasewood Flats {Doc's Place) before that section got all built up. A lot of fun.

In a few words you told of the treachery of the dessert, the survival of flora and the approaching danger of the rattler. A cleverly formed poem with an abundance of movement. Excellent writing Joe.

Hi Wendy; when I write, I bring my entire tool box. In one poem there can be many forms, rhyme, free, etc., it is all determined by what I want to convey -- rather, where Spirit leads me, Free Reign. I cannot write any other way. The purpose of this poem is to elevate the understanding of poetry, where it comes from, to a realm of supernatural influence. I see you get it. Blessings my friend.
