The Day I Took the Car Back

I was a pretty devilish driver, fearlessly wreck-less; a deal is a deal. I drove a car for six hundred miles, it lost its right front wheel. I took the car back to the owner, made him give me back my money. His mother never forgave me this, although she called me honey. If I could re-do that day, and be nicer, kinder, a bit less me, I think she and I might have been better friends, this I can plainly see. I made him pay me back the entire $75. every single horrible dime. Embarrasses me to this day, as the fault was truly and honestly mine. I drove the wheels off that car, it was so bad that when I was completely done, It had to be towed to a junk yard; I know for I married him, her only son.

Thank you. I know at 18 I thought I was invincible, daring the road to kill me, which did not happen, obviously as I was a race car driver on a regular highway, and country roads with gravel also.

Hi Caren, Lol, lol, but it seems that your mother in law and you were/are are best friends, and proud of you as a daughter in law, such a sensible, clever, witty and Pretty person she could never have ever dreamed of marrying her son whatever it was you did to the car! You rock Caren! Loads of hugs, Jennifer.

Thanks Jennifer. We became very good friends, and it was because she had a kind heart, and looked for the best in every single person she met. She taught school for 47 years, and I believe she was the best-loved school teacher in town for twenty years after that even.

Oh wow, you literally drove the wheels off of it! Love the way you worded this... especially "His mother never forgave me this, although she called me honey." Hahaha! ;)
