The Day I Took the Car Back
I was a pretty devilish driver, fearlessly wreck-less; a deal is a deal. I drove a car for six hundred miles, it lost its right front wheel. I took the car back to the owner, made him give me back my money. His mother never forgave me this, although she called me honey. If I could re-do that day, and be nicer, kinder, a bit less me, I think she and I might have been better friends, this I can plainly see. I made him pay me back the entire $75. every single horrible dime. Embarrasses me to this day, as the fault was truly and honestly mine. I drove the wheels off that car, it was so bad that when I was completely done, It had to be towed to a junk yard; I know for I married him, her only son.
