The Colour Green

As I stood Just outside my lonely house Cursing the cold. I saw them Across the street Under the flame tree. A leaf fell on her hair She cared not. He was more concentrated On brushing her hot red lips. Cold wind blew but They hugged closer Feeling each other’s warmth. Rain dropped slowly They did not move. He just opened his brolly. The kissing did not stop. Then I saw her face. It was my ex. I turned sickly green. But not of the cold.

Ah, man... that's rough. Enjoyed reading it, but I hope this was not true? Either way, thanks for sharing a vulnerable piece.

Probably better to feel good for them, wink at the universe and move on, humming a soft, heart uplifting tune

Heated shooting thoughts stream by, every emotion swarming in the mind, humiliation, love, hate, confusion, envy.......Just walk away. Is there a sequel? :)

Victor, lovely poem and also touching. Sometimes is better to ignore some situations, leave them go, as time heals injures little by little. My blessings my friend!

It's better to stay away, when a situation like this is front of you. Feeling all kinds of emotions is understandable. Your thoughts caress softly around me and my heart. Hugs, Brandy

You have described a highly romantic scene. Unfortunately it happened to be your ex lover. I feel it is natural to feel green eyed under such circumstances.

Glad brolly is an umbrella and not an overcoat. (Learned new word). That could make someone grow cold…good one.

Made me smile, the ending, i know that feeling so well, some people make us sicker than any weather or any flu could, as we remember somethings. Your way of delivering this very meaningful and moving poem is so very creative dear victor, i love the imagery youve painted and the twist too. Clever poem. Pleasure always reading your work

A fascinating poem. I'll have to research brolly. The poem seems to occur in winter, so evidently the subject was the only green item in the poem. A nice twist on the color.

Dear Victor, your poem is emotive and evocative. I admire your use of atmosphere and color to set the scene for an emotional grand twist in the final stanza.. "cursing the cold" and "flame tree" and "hot red lips" (nice contrast with the cold wind/rain) and "his brolly"(had to look that one up.. great word!) and "sickly green". Your vibrant imagery leads to a poignant finale with a sudden shock of heartache and envy. Superb poetry, my friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Dear Victor, Your poem captures the visceral emotions of witnessing an unexpected encounter with an ex-lover. The imagery of the cold wind, the flame tree, and the intimate moment between the couple is vivid and evocative. The final revelation, tinged with jealousy and regret, adds depth to the narrative. A very well done piece reflecting on the complexities of past relationships and the lingering emotions they evoke.
