The Autumn of Life
They walk hand in hand down the umber trail;
the same trail they walked forty years before.
Amber tinted leaves descend without fail;
saffron colored blooms line the forest floor,
and cinnamon hued leaves and colors more.
The crimson painted sky shows through the trees
as the sun in the west settles with ease.
The crisp fall air of the late afternoon
flows gently by as the pair makes their way
beneath the rising of the pumpkin moon.
Her once ginger hair is now a dull grey;
this once young couple is older today.
Still hearts glowing fire, they live without strife
as they journey through the autumn of life.
