Thanksgiving Thoughts
Thanksgiving thoughts
Once I went to “Sunday Kool,”
In my patent leather Sunday shoes.
Every Sunday was pot roast day,
Naps, papers, at-home play.
Sober now and aged am I,
Remembering Sundays past,
Now Thanksgiving Day is upon us,
Reflection with gratitude is asked.
When I had the measles, you made me well,
When the car rolled over down the highway,
You saved our lives that would hold sorrows and joys,
With awe of weather’s change of days.
You touched my folks when they had their fights,
They loved and kissed and stayed as one,
Not counting the sunsets over western twilights.
And fires of picnics in the mountains for fun.
And then, most of all, You gave me love,
Your love through husband and children.
You gave me the identity of “Mother”
And too many blessings to mention.
For You, Yourself, and Your gift of life, I am thankful.
