Sweet Half and Half

Behind my house, sweet Pretty beckons me with leafy swaying arms, and I succumb. I go to where she stands and hear a hum. Examining the heart of her, I see a swarm of bees that hover happily. For what she has, they eagerly have come, and blossoms burgeoning now give them some. So common, yet peculiar is my tree. . . She ought to be a willow, so then why does an adornment of pink blossoms show on only graceful branches hanging low? However, her top limbs are poised high. That other half is reaching for the sky and wearing charms of white like flowered snow! July 11, 2012 for the 'COMPLETELY YOUR CHOICE (13)any form any theme' Poetry Contest of Brian Strand

Ooh, I love this ode to your Pretty tree with the peculiar half and half attributes! Nice work with your Italian sonnet, which is just that much harder than an English one. I like how you mixed up the rhymes in the last 6 lines from the usual CDCDCD format. Congrats on #1 win!

I love this tree sonnet, my friend - she sounds like a beauty : ) My favourite tree is quite hollow and would look dead if it didn't have leaves - it's rumoured to be a hanging tree

Sometimes blooming vines wend their way through tree branches as if they belonged there. My kitties in this poem were feral and i could not catch them and they ran when I opened the door. There was no way of getting them tamed. My daughter just brought over a trap to try to catch the lone survivor and get him taken care of and tamed if possible. My kitty that I have never goes out doors. There are jsut too many dangers around including very fast traffic. Joyce
