Summer Carousel
Overlooking from the hill, an ancient water well
casts a muted shadow bound in sunset’s wondrous spell.
Gold etched emeralds wave goodnight, across the sylvan dell
while mysterious lullabies of songbirds sound the knell.
The venerable old scarecrow from his pike knows all too well;
the secrets whispered by the trees, but he will never tell.
Tranquility of newborn night, so beautiful and frail,
comes around, and goes around, the summer carousel.
