Stars Like Bits of Crystal

Stars like bits of crystal twinkling with mystic glee Striking up a kinship with ol’ blood moon rising, That you exist the astronomers have no guarantee, But sparkling like a diamond I find it not surprising You certainly are alive and well, as far as I can see! When blackness hovers like dead of August night The stars, like bits of cosmic quartz, shine brightly, And I, earthling, know nothing about their plight Over vast eons of time, I think, and more rightly, Until, as scientists say, they disappear from sight.

Moving poem Milt. Nothing like the stars from a country setting without city light to fade the crystals! Beautiful! Congratulations on your win! Linda

"the stars, like bits of cosmic quartz, shine brightly," this is so delightfully whimsical and explains the look of stars incredibly well Hank.

I like how you did yours in such an original way. I was wondering if it mattered if we did a standard one or more creative as you did here. GREAT entry, Milt.

Thanks, Andrea. I just put my theme together and chose the form I thought would work best with it. It seemed to work well in the Quintain form. I appreciate your thoughts and your comment.

Do the stars shine brighter now that your vision is clearer, Milt? I'm teasing you, but your theme here warranted that comment... sorry. Comparing stars to crystal is very appropriate since they both sparkle like prismed facets of light.

Thanks, Jenna. Actually, I am amazed at my far-vision now. Much clearer and brighter. But, I am seeing some change also for the better in my near-vision. I have not worn glasses at all now for two days! That's really something for someone who has worn glasses since high school days.

I never get tired of watching the night sky on a clear night, it amazes me too that the stars we see may no longer exist because the light travels years before we see it,, the amazing wonders of creation. Hope you have a great weekend Milton. Tom

Me neither, Tom. Zillions of them on a clear night in mid-summer. I love it. The same for you, Tom.

Beautiful imagery reflected in your words my friend. If memory serves me Milton, the twinkling effect that you see is the atmosphere bending the light creating this twinkling effect, also when stars disappear it could be by this same effect, or their hydrogen gas has been depleted. A little science of cause and effect. Your words shine bright in this creation of yours for the contest. A fine entry for the contest Milton. Hope your surgery is healing and your feeling better visually. God bless...
