My heart wars with my mind
Telling it to deny
All the love I’ve known
The way God has blessed my soul
With joy, faith and hope
A love that dances and glows
With a light that abides inside
Wherever I go – filling my life
With music, inspiration and elation
Freeing my spirit’s imagination
With wonder, courage and strength
Assurance that I have His gifts
Of love to awaken my peace
And cover my life in sweet grace
My spirit battles my brain
Telling it to remain
Uncertain, afraid, full of worry
Weary beyond comfort
With feelings stewing with discouragement
And giving off a vapor of despair
Disgrace that makes me aware
I have need for a silent prayer
My dreams are fading into shadows
Of darkness that fills up my being
Weakens the sparkle of enthusiasm
Filling me with dread of the future
Feelings of anxiety, panic, alarm
Disregarding all of my aspirations
The ones that are filled with light
Sparkling with imagination and insight
Alive with kindness and dreams
Feelings that calm and uplift my heart
With music that pours through my thoughts
And moves my soul to new heights
Where darkness can’t shade my hope
And despair can never break through
Because God is there, filling my cup
With a sweetness that lingers on my heart
Enriching, enlightening, enchanting
Reminding me that He is my forever
And He is the One I will always treasure!
