Sonnet 20170405
When ashamed of failings yet honored in men’s eyes
We prod ourselves to do the right thing and repent
Vices like pride and prejudice cannot surprise
Us now that we have touched the Savior’s wounds, then Lent
Cycles around to reinforce lessons we first
Loved as children, that recall the Samaritan.
Midway in our walk, we learn the last might be first!
Our fate is secured, no threat of conflagration?
Doubts do persecute the soul: It’s all too easy!
Second birth, no death or demons, life abundant,
Just by faith and belief? When tempted and queasy -
Clutching to His righteousness, the New Covenant
Living Waters cascade these waves (in mind and sea)
When Heaven looks to judge you, It will call for Me
