Sol Squints
Sol squints as His unblinking eye
slips over the edge of the Earth.
And as Scarlet smears a teal sky,
Dusk dims, awaiting Dawn's rebirth.
Vermilion clouds hang overhead,
hovering low above the ground.
And as the far horizon bleeds,
darkness descends without a sound.
Shades of charcoal dappled on blue
merge; in the creases of the night.
And a lone owl bids day adieu,
silhouetted by Dusk’s last light.
Shadows flow like rivers of black
as twilight succumbs to the dark.
And daylight slips into a crack,
abandoning a landscape; stark.
