Note: I wrote this poem over a year ago while I was struggling with long term, post-surgery pain, six months of physical therapy and recovery--a time when I truly felt physically and spiritually broken. No longer feel 'broken.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
she
sheltered
there, hiding—
whispering tears,
wind softly singing
beneath her broken wings.
It tests the heart, now flightless
broken—wanting to rush, to run
finding ways to sing without the wind
