Note: I wrote this poem over a year ago while I was struggling with long term, post-surgery pain, six months of physical therapy and recovery--a time when I truly felt physically and spiritually broken. No longer feel 'broken.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ she sheltered there, hiding— whispering tears, wind softly singing beneath her broken wings. It tests the heart, now flightless broken—wanting to rush, to run finding ways to sing without the wind
thank you, kind Sotto, for seeing the duality of pain and beauty. Thanks, too, for your compassionate words about any hardships I may have faced. We all face those, but they redefine us in remarkable, unanticipated ways. In my case, I've grown and learned through hardships. All experiences help me as a person and poet. Have a wonderful spring evening, your poetess friend in Texas, Sara
Dear Sara, soulful poetess, your golden pen shines in this poignant poem. Your last line "finding ways to sing without the wind" is a grand finale to an exquisite poem. Though you thought you were "broken", it was really a life lesson in making you whole. I adore your poem and your poet's note. Warmest wishes my sweet friend.. ~Susan
Dear Sara, I love the picture of those monarch butterflies and this sweetly sad Ninnette. I'm so glad that you have since healed and are ambulatory again. It's awful to be in that slowed down recovery state when you are used to be so much more active. Enjoyed!
