The Night Is Coming: Cool Clouds

The clouds are swirling in the wind, Unique designs appear within. An artist’s brush could be the air, For many forms are found up there. Look up there, it’s a swimming whale, ‘Twill quickly change with the next gale. It seems so strange to change so much, It makes it hard to keep in touch. There’s a ship with the flag raised high, It slowly fades as it drifts by. A dragon flies upon the mast, With raging winds, it will not last. One way to live with all this change, Enjoy each form when it’s in range. Then like a child with a new toy, Each change will bring with it more joy. Don’t allow fear to have its way, Change will come with every new day. Giving us a chance to mature, A better chance to feel secure.

Wonderful metaphoric images taking us into a deeper place of deeper understanding, Bill. I love to watch clouds as they form and re-form themselves! Great theme choice for a poem. My Than-bauk was based on watching clouds that looked like plumes. Great minds! Blessings my Lone Star friend! Happy Thanksgiving!

There’s a ship with the flag raised high, It slowly fades as it drifts by. A dragon flies upon the mast, With raging winds, it will not last--beautiful images and a positive message in final two stanzas. Excellent write, Bill.

Dear Bill, what an uplifting and creative write this is. Sometimes i love cloud gazing, especially watch them drift gives me hope that there will be a change eventually in things around the world. And funny i do find various shapes and different things in the form of clouds. I really love how you’ve said “ An artist’s brush could be the air,“ I believe God is an artist, seeing beauty of nature makes me convinced. “ Don’t allow fear to have its way,“profound reminder, one that we need, fave def

What a wonderful poem Bill. The pacing and the rhymes, at least when I read it out loud, just seem to drift by as if passing clouds. I don't know anyone that hasn't looked at clouds and used their imagination. Thanks

Clouds are indeed like life… only quicker to disintegrate and throw up new possibilities. I often see shapes in clouds, as I do in marbled tiles and the trunks of trees, but little is more fleeting than those shapes in the clouds, often gone before they can be shared. Enjoyed muchly, Bill

Thanks Terry. I glad you see images in tiles, I was beginning to think I was the only one seeing them. lol For me it's more shape in wood than in trees. We must have a similar way of seeing things, my friend. Have a great week! Bill

Dear Bill, Your poem's grace comes from your vivid imagery and clever word use. It conjures evocative scenes of those mellifluous moments when clouds suddenly transform into a galloping equine presence, warning us of the enduring of motion. May you rejoice in this perpetual shifting under this celestial canopy. A Fave for me
