Romance
As the twilight fades in a red-feathered sky
candles melt, their flame dancing
in the ocean's breeze of softness
where two watch the sunset
and welcome the moon slowly rising
to splay its beams upon the incoming tide
wine is poured, a rose given
its fragrant scent lingers
as lovers bow to a timeless moment
where each heartbeat is felt
that stretches one to another
in a union of passion's silent space
the waves are a distant sound of rhythmic motion
heard but not heard
the sand is cool and wet
and clings to the skin unnoticed
as two become silhouettes on the shore
beneath a black sky of star-lit glow
that has turned a dusky gray
before the red-feathered sky returns
from the sun slowly rising
