For Edward Ibeh's This Or That, Vol 27 Poetry Contest  Sept. 3, 2024

________________________________________________________________________

There was a fool who thought that he could use reverse psychology on his girlfriend. He started complimenting all her shoes. In truth, he hoped her shoe-shopping would end. She bought more! Then he said about her face he liked her lashes false and lips bright red. Her makeup habits he could not erase. Cosmetics brighter she just bought instead. He told her that he did not mind if she conversed more with his best friend when really it made him very jealous just to see her with another guy. He felt silly to hear, “I think you care not what I do. It’s boring. For your friend I’m leaving you.”

Yep, I gave up trying to use any psychology on women when I was about 16. My father confided in me at the time, while I was nursing a broken heart: "Son, the dumbest women in the world, will make a fool out of the smartest man~ if she has a mind to. Now, that 's my father talking. All hateful posts please address Joe Senior -- Calvery Cemetery.

Women aren't all that mysterious, Joe. At least I am not. But I have seen lots of gas lighting that men do in the true crime documentaries I watch.

Ah the queen of sonnets! At it again! I love how you’ve captured what reverse psychology is like! some humanbeings need that, reverse psychology used on them as they have this mindset of doing the opposite of whats told to do! I love the title! and its one of those words i use every day , ugh! Cus i notice reverse psych! However i think ill pick the other subject to write on as this is hard to writ about! Best wishes! Sending you light always!

This time I found both the choices of Edward challenging. First I tried Reverse Psychology and got stuck half the way. Later I chose Unconscious Bias. Andrea, your poem has made me smile. His reverse psychology backfired!

Yes. Very hard choices for using imagery. I think I saw yours. I bet he will like that one.
