Pulling Up Anchor
A drifting cloud anchors itself on the hillside
Where admiral butterflies on warm breezes glide
Beneath a sky of azure where meadows abide
There are bird songs afloat, on winds they hitch a ride
Yonder, a boat tailed grackle on a post is spied
Looking for grasshoppers that in the grass reside
A meadowlark sings to lure a mate to his side
As he shows off the colors that nature supplied
A plethora of flowers, nectar they provide
As bees buzz around in black eyed susans they hide
Then the cloud pulls up anchor, I watch it divide
As a new cloud approaches, its sail tall and wide
